"I spent part of my first transfer on buying livestock which includes some goats and sheep. I have been dreaming to keep them in my compound but I could not afford them becasue they were too more expensive. I later bought building materials such as iron sheets, building poles, timber, and nails. This was for the construction of a new house because the initial one was not spacious. In addition to that, I settled the huge school fees balances for my children who are still in primary schools. With the remaining amount of money, I bought sufficient foodstuffs for the family."

Also, I expanded my hotel business which I am currently running and I am glad am getting good returns from it. With the amount of money that had had remained, I bought enough foodstuffs for the family."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now have a dairy cow and an ox. This has been my dream of owning them for years but I could not afford them because they were relatively expensive. I settled for them becasue of their numerous benefits compared to the other domestic animals. With the dairy cow, I will be getting plenty of milk that will be for my family consumption. This will be a relief to me because we have to buy milk from neighbors and sometimes we couldn't afford it. Also, I will be selling the remaining liters to my neighbors and generate and income. This money will majorly empower me to always pay school fees for my children in time. Also with the ox, since it is one, I will combine it with that of my relatives and help me in ploughing my time in good time. This will be a great help to me because for all that time I have been using my own hand in ploughung and I could only utilize a small portion of my farm. Therefore I ended up getting a poor harvest. I am now a happy farmer becasue I will no longer strain during the planting seasons like before."

"I used 30, 000 shillings of my second transfer on buying a dairy cow since it had become costly for us to purchase milk daily. We usually consume milk each day either on its raw status or by preparing tea. As a relatively large family, we used to spend almost a dollar daily on milk. Besides, I utilized 15, 000 shillings on paying school fees and clearing arrears for my three children who are at secondary schools to have ample study time. They used to miss classes when sent home to collect pending fees. I spent the remainder on buying more food for my family since we had no stock in our store."

"My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have bought a Bench mounting belt machine. We own a workshop at the town Center. We had bought one machine before, whenever I had many customers at my shop they could wait for a longer time to get their furniture ready. When I received the second transfer is was the best feelings ever since I was in a position to buy another machine. Currently the volume of work at the workshop is higher compared to when I had one machine. My customers get their furniture ready for collection on time. The amount of profit that I get nowadays is also much higher. This has enabled me to meet all my household expenditure and even pay school fees for my children on time. Before life was so hard, I could not even break-even in my business. All my earnings could be used on school fees and food for the family. I am so grateful for the support because GiveDirectly has changed our living standard and given us a source of income."

"I had sold most of my livestock to cater for the educational needs of my kids. The biggest difference in my daily life is I have been able to boost my small scale livestock rearing job something that I could not have done without the GiveDirectly aid. I am now assured that my children will be able to acquire quality education up to collage level without much struggle. My plan is to sale the offspring once they reproduce to pay for my kid school fees."

"With the great plans we had with the first transfer, we are glad to adequately account for every coin we had up to this far. We have made more changes so far than we had expected but out of all, the biggest difference in our daily life is the joy and satisfaction when we look at our current standard of living.  Every household member is glad to be in new trends, eating healthy with school fees fully paid, and enjoying the fact that farming is in place - giving us hope for the next harvest. We are thankful every day and for the past few months, we had been praying that all that we have invested our money in, may come out to be as productive as we had expected."

"My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have bought a heifer. I always buy milk daily from my neighbor and this is so costly for me. I depend on small scale farming and sometimes do casual jobs in the village. The amount that I get paid is so little. I hardly meet the basic household items and pay school fees for my children in various schools. When my cow reproduce I will be in a position to have enough milk for my family. I will sell the surplus milk to earn an income. I will be able to reduce the time for the casual jobs and devote much of my time doing dairy family. Owning a cow has given me hope in that I know in the next few months I will have cut the daily cost of buying milk. I am so happy because this was always my wish to own a dairy cow."
