"My life is different from how it would have been because I managed to purchase a good number of goats. Through them, I am optimistic that I will achieve most of my long time goals. Currently a few have started reproducing and this gives me hopes that very soon I will have many of them. My ain is when they increase in number, I will sell some and start a different project ie a hotel or a kiosk. I feel it's going to happen soon becasue goats are in high demand and I will not have to strain when selling them. Also, the fact that I cleared the school fees balances for my children brings a big relief into my life. It was so stressful especially when they are being sent home but I am happy that no longer happens."

"My life is different in such a way that, I managed to purchase a piece of land. Being a single parent, I have been living in my fathers compound which was also small. I was not comfortable at all because I knew my children would suffer soon. However, I had no option during these days becasue the little I was earning was only for my children's daily meals. I am now glad because I am even saving some cash so that I can construct a new house in my plot and live peacefully with my children. Also, through the transfers, I managed to clear school fees for my children and this is what I have been wanting. They are now styling with it being interfered ad it assures me that they will acquire better grades. I would have achieved all these if it were not for the funaciks support"

"I spent part of my second transfer on buying building materials which include some bags of cement, sand and bricks. This was specifically for the renovation of my house which had muddy cracked walls. I decided to plaster the walls and floor so that it can be permanent and decent like the rest. I also cleared school fees for my children in advance so that they can cast with their studies without being interfered with like they used to do. With the amount of money that had remained, I bought enough food for my family and some decent clothes to replace the old ones."

"goats, house My life is different than how it would have been becasue I am now a proud owner of several goats. Currently, some have started reproducing, and thus assures me that I will have many of them very soon. Once they multiply, I will sell the matured offspring and pay my bills like school fees for my children and the family's bread. To add to that, I have a big decent house which I also acquired through the transfers. The previous house was in a poor sttse I never thought I would own a better one any time soon. It has really been a frustrating moment because I couldn't even host visitors and whenever I had one, I was forced to seek shelter for her in my neighbor's houses. I am now feeling proud and happy for this huge step in my life courtesy of GiveDirectly"

"My son will be joining high school in August after doing well in his primary school national examinations. We had planned to sell one of our cows to raise his school fees as well as buy all the other requirements.Of course selling this cow would have been a great set back because we have only two but it was the only way out for us.Receiving this money means we no longer have to worry about this.Instead,it will even enable us to add one more cow to our herd. This will enable us have a back up in case we run into fee shortages in the course of his four years of study and also for his siblings."

"I dropped out of high school in my second year when I realized that I was expectant.I then moved to my husband's home to start our family but I still had the hope of completing my studies after having my child. This has however not been possible due to lack of money for school fees. This has been the biggest hardship I have faced. If time could turn back,I would have first ensured that I made it through high school before thinking of establishing a family. Now that we have a young child, the focus of most needs has shifted from my education towards meeting the child's needs. With only one of us (husband) working for an income, his salary of Sh 15000 and all the household needs,it can be overwhelming.Even though completing my studies was once my biggest dream,I have resigned to my fate and decided to indulge fully in farming activities."

"My life is different from how it would have been becasue it has empowered me to send my children to school. Currently, my two daughters are in university, the elder one in the third year and the other one joined recently. I am so hopeful and happier becasue it was not for this organization she would be at home till now. This is becasue I am jobless and we only depend on my souse wh works on casual jobs and the little he earns could not be enough to cater for both of them in their school fees. Therefore I am happy because so long as they are both in school now, I will still be seeking help from the wellwishers and anyone and I am positive they will finish their studies."

"My life is so different from how it would have been becasue through the transfers I managed to clear school fees for my daughter and paid in advance so that she can study without any distractions like before. Also, the money empowered me to finish constructing my house which I had initially started but I had to stop becasue I did not have extra cash to facilitate that. I am happy I am even comfortably sheltering under it together with my children. To add to this, I have goats which serve as the living assets that I will always depend on in case of any financial difficulties."

"Prolonged drought periods in this region has made farming of less importance. In order to support the family needs, I have to engage in casual jobs in people's farms. I personally earn $3 daily from these jobs which is barely enough to cater for the needs of my household and more so school fees. This is the biggest hardship we face."

"I spent part of my second transfer on clearing school fees balances for my daughter who had finished her secondary education the last two years. By the time he was sitting for her final exams, the fees arrears had accumulated and the principal assured us that she will be allowed to sit for the national exams but then she will only be given her certificates once we clear the fees. Also, I bought livestock such as goats at a total of KES 15000. I, later on, boosted my kiosk uses and I am now getting good returns and I can meet my family's needs with ease. Also with the reming amount of money, I bought food for the family."
