"After selling all the livestock that we had to cater for the school fees for my children. Receiving the first transfer was a great opportunity to start again by obtaining a heifer at KES25000. I was lucky to get a good breed and a potential milk producer that I am hopeful to depend on with my family in the future. I also paid KES 10000 on school for my only daughter currently in a secondary school as she had been undergoing a lot of frustrations being sent home and missing a chance to sit for her examination after studying for the whole term. This clearance of her school fees will give her ample time to read and compete favorably with her classmates. I also had to start sourcing construction materials with the plan to construct a new house to replace the current one that is so old. Since I already had trees in my compound I spent only KES 5000 on cutting them down and sawing them to obtain timber. With the remaining amount, I used it in household shopping of two mattresses and also foodstuff for the household."

"My challenges are numberous ! I have to use my bare hands in making every farms for my family every year to be able to put food on our table ... To accumulate school fees for my children is so difficult because I depend on the limited farm products to accomplish all of our expenses on a daily basis. There is a little child with me by name Prince Wesseh Togba who I adobted when his mother passed away from illness in 2009. Prince Wesseh Togba was a year old baby when his mother Esther Polegbe passed away . I have to use the limited resources for my home to pay his school fees as well because of the sorrow and empathy. These are so challenging moment for my Madam and I every year ."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is the clearance of school fees for my two daughters. It has been a struggle raising enough school fees for them and on several occasions, they had been sent home by their teachers hoping that they will get some money and go back to school the same day but it always takes weeks before we find them enough. Seeing them study peacefully in school without any interruption at the moment is a good feeling not only to me, but also to them."

"I moved to my current piece of land a year ago since my original farm was dry and very unproductive. Receiving this money will allow me to settle on well and improve my livelihood. I plan to fence off the farm, partition it into sections so that when I purchase a dairy cow, it's well taken care of. This will cost me KES 60000. For the rest of the amount, I will pay school fees for my daughter in secondary school."

"My biggest hardship facing me currently is the lack of money to build my own house and continue to pay my daughter's school fees. Though I burn coal periodically and when it burns, I sell it to cater to other family challenges such as food and my daughter school fees. Even though I am not satisfied with my daughter's school situation, but due to money business I decided that she moved with her aunt in Monrovia. The money earned from coal selling is not enough to buy zinc and other building materials to start the construction of my own house. Therefore, any assistance provided to me by GiveDirectly to improve my livelihood will be highly appreciated."

"I am a single mother of four children, I used to sell vegetables in the market but unfortunately, the business collapsed due to so many responsibilities, therefore I opted to be doing casual jobs around the village, I am also a consistent farmer. I was so relieved when I received my transfer because my son was about to join secondary school yet I had no means of paying school fees, therefore I used my transfer in paying school fees of KES 24,000, I then started a goat rearing project where I bought two at KES 8000 in addition to that I prepared mt land for the next planting season where I used KES 5300. Lastly, I bought enough foodstuff in the house and other household items. I am so grateful for the support that changed our lives greatly."

"I am a happy father now, in that I will be able to sleep in peace knowing that my children have a roof over their heads in my compound, unlike before where they used to sleep in our neighbour's place due to financial constraints, secondly, I was able to clear the school fees arrears of my children which was the main challenge due to the financial constraints, I lack words to express how grateful I am, indeed the organization has played a big role in lifting our living standard to a better one and we are thankful."
