Changawa
received a $27 sixth payment.
"I believe every little effort we give into our business, the output will be great. I am really working hard so as to be able to save enough and start my own poultry farm. Ever since I was a child, I have had a vision of being great and to be great one has to do something unique. I have so far bought thirty chicken and I believe it will hatch and I will be able to sell them and buy more chicken. Through buying and selling of chicken I was able to buy at least four goats that are giving me pride. I also joined a merry go round last month so as to save enough and take loans when needs arise to buy more chicken and sell them. I have been able to make more profits and I believe I will make more and more in days to come."

Victor
received a $349 second payment.
"I want to start my own chicken business before the end of the year so I can stop buying in the villages and start raising chickens on my own farm. I can increase my income in this way and properly manage it at home.
If all goes according to plan, I'll start out by purchasing roughly ten goats so I can comfortably take care of my family's basic needs."

Kanze
received a $27 fourteenth payment.
"The persistent drought in my region has made farming activities impossible to prosper, which has forced us to sustain our families by buying food rather than growing it. As a result, it is challenging to save the cash transfers to accomplish other goals like owning livestock. Although financial constraints are difficult to escape from, considering our growing family of nine, I hope to be able to save part of each future cash transfer to buy a goat or chickens. Am certain that keeping livestock will help me raise money for my children’s school fees. My goal is to support all seven of them throughout all education levels and to college. "

"My attention is currently on securing more livestock, specifically goats and chickens, and letting them reproduce and expand the herd. In the future, after the cash program comes to an end, I could sell these goats to generate funds that will allow me to provide for my family’s needs such as food and school fees. Since I already have one from previous transfers, I hope to increase the number to five by the end of the year. "

Hussein
received a $27 tenth payment.
"I am a motorbike rider and I would normally make $5 daily from my daily runs. I have always wanted to have a sustainable plan that can take care of me when I am unable to work. I have hence decided to start an animal farm that I hope to one day commercialize. My plan this year is to add to the already existing goats and chicken to achieve a bigger number than the ones I currently have. I hope that through this I am able to make profits as animals give birth and when the young ones grow I can sell then and get money worth what I invested in the animal or more."

"Before GD came I used to hunt for tree stumps to make charcoal, it is not an easy task. I would hunt and would only come by these stumps rarely and I could only make $8 from a stump. Now I am receiving a significant transfer amount from Givedirectly. I am able to use this money to buy animals and my hope is to increase them to a point I can own goats and cows. I have now 10 chicken which some have young ones while others do not. My hope is they increase in number and then I can sell them off and afford buying a goat of a cow. Keeping animals will be a good investment for me and my family."

"I used my December transfer for the festivities, $30 went into the purchase of food items such as wheat flour, cooking oil, maize flour so that my family could have at least two meals daily during the holidays. I save $4 for my personal use. In January my siblings were going to school I paid $15 towards school for the six of them, it did not settle the whole debt but I was able to get them to school. I bought two chicken at $8 and the rest of my transfer went into buying to ensure the family did not miss out on food. In February I saw that it was a good opportunity to buy a goad and I got a goat at $35."

"I believe all my hard work will pay off someday and it will not be in vain that I wake up early and I sleep late. My job does not bring in a lot of profit so I want to invest in something else so that at the end of time I will have a variety of sources that bring me profit. I want to start by buying a lot of chicken and when they hatch I can easily sell them and buy goats. When I buy goats they can easily multiply. When they do so, I get enough to sell and buy dairy cows and bulls. I really want to get a bull and a cow so that I can use the bull till my land and the dairy cow I milk them and drink the milk and the remaining milk I easily sell them. The selling of milk will bring in some profit and the bull will help me save my energy and at times I can rent it to someone and get paid at the end of day. This will help me easily multiply my wealth without incurring a lot of cost."
