"I plan to cow at £405 which will give milk for both domestic use and selling to raise money for catering for basic needs in the home. I also choose to buy land worth £810 which will help us crops for food security and stop getting worried of how to get food for a long period of time. Then the balance of £675 will help me pay school fees for my children at school and purchase furniture and beddings for all of us."

"With the cash transfer, I plan to purchase a plot of land worth £1081 on which I will plant crops so that we can get enough food to survive on for some good period of time. I also plan to buy two cows at £432 which will provide us with milk after some time and we also enjoy taking and also selling to cater for other basic needs. Then the balance of £378 will help me to start up a poultry farm which will enable us to raise daily income to settle all emergencies in the home."

"I was walking from home heading to the market when I first found out I had received my transfer. I was very content and immediately joined me at the market place where he helped me look for an agent and count the withdrawn money. I was so happy and I always pray for everyone at GD. It is very hard to grow crops on our land without manure but I was able to buy a cow, put my kids back to school and bought some food all thanks to GD."

"I was home with my family when I received my first transfer. My husband and I were so happy because we were living in extreme poverty and we could see better days ahead. My faily and I were very hungry, we withdrew the whole transfer the same day and bought food, clothes and a cow all thanks to GD"

"I heard everyone around me rejoicing and I got a bit confused, I realized moments later that we had received our first transfer and was so happy. I waited 5 days before withdrawing because I had plans of buying livestock and solar power for my home. I was able to pay for the solar energy but I am still looking for a healthy cow to buy with the transfer GD gave me."

"My lastborn son died a year after we buried his wife, leaving me with six orphans for whom I have struggled to provide. At 77, I am unable to do anything on the farm or in business other than the small-scale livestock farming that I am currently engaged in. We used to have over 200 animals, but my husband, son, and wife's frequent hospital visits depleted the herd, leaving me with only three cows. It was unfortunate that none of them managed to come out of the hospital alive. One of the six orphaned children is mentally unstable and has hand paralysis; the elder completed his secondary studies and moved to his uncle's home; and the other four are completely reliant on me for their school fees and upkeep when they return home. It is unfortunate that I was unable to provide the mentally unstable child with special education, which is more expensive than the others. When I received the second transfer, I spent $370 on clearing their school fee arrears, leaving me with only $70 to spend on other household goods, of which I spent $40 on foodstuff and household consumables, including toiletries, and saved the remaining $30 for transportation costs when my grandchildren returned from school. Gladys, my daughter and helper, has been an incredible source of support for me. She always contributes to the purchase of food, as well as other household expenses."

"I have always dreamt of providing the best education for my children, but with the limited resources at hand, it seemed like an impossible task. However, Give Directly has given me a solution that I know will work. I plan on buying a cow and two goats at $534 and $160, respectively. These animals will provide us with milk that I can sell and use the profits to pay for my children's education. It won't be an easy task, but I am willing to put in the work to make it happen. In addition to the animals, I plan on buying a plot of land in Bushebulili Parish at $534. This will be our new home, and I am willing to put in the effort to build a house that my family can be proud of. To cut down on the cost, I will remove the iron sheets on our current house and use them to construct our new home. I will use $67 to buy logs for the construction of our new house. I also want to support my wife's business. I will give her $480, which she will use to hire crops straight from the garden like cabbage plantations, tomato plantations, and coffee plantations. She will supply them to different markets to get profits and grow her business. Lastly, I will save $93 for emergency purposes. I know that unexpected expenses can come up, and it's important to have a safety net. I am excited about this plan and believe that it will set my family on the path to a better future."

"In the next year and beyond, I would love to have gained financial stability, where I can support the education of my three children without straining. Keeping livestock is the surest way I could develop myself and accumulate future wealth. By the end of the year, I intend to have bought at least four goats, which I can later exchange for a cow when they multiply. "

"This year and in the future, I intend to invest in animal farming. I would like to expand my goat herd. After all, they serve as a form of security because they can be easily converted to monetary value when the need arises. If the herd grows, I will convert them to cows because our local calculation is that five goats can be exchanged for one cow. I hope to acquire plowing bulls for use during farming seasons. I'll be able to hire them for a fee and use them in my subsistence farming as well."
