"My main goal is to start a livestock rearing project where I had already bought a few goats to start me off. I would want to be a farmer venturing in livestock and I plan to accomplish this by spending part of my monthly transfers in purchasing goats and later buy cows knowing that they would be of help in the future in case I would be faced with any financial difficulties."

"After receiving the second transfer, I decided to finish various projects around my house. I started doing this because I intended to use GiveDirectly to get a decent house. As a result, I spent $200 total, including labor, for plastering and flooring supplies like cement. Because I live in a beautiful house now, I feel content and self-assured. To add to the livestock investment I started with the first transfer, I also purchased a cow for $180 and three goats for $105. The investment enables me to provide for the requirements of my family because the goats may easily be sold for money if necessary. I first relied exclusively on charcoal burning, which was not dependable. Up to two days a week could pass without meals for us. As of right now, ever since I received the payments from GiveDirectly, we have had access to enough food."

"In the coming year and beyond, I would want to purchase livestock, especially goats. I believe that these are valuable assets considering that they can thrive so well in my region. Also I am certain that once I will succeed in rearing them,  I will not longer be stressed up incase of any financial constraints.  Also, even as they will be increasing in number, I can as well think of exchanging them for a cow and start practising dairy farming. "

"Climate change has impacted negatively my source of income which is livestock keeping. For the past three years , I have lost ten cows to drought. The lack of rainfall resulted in a decrease in pasture and water for livestock hence a decrease in production and also death. I struggle to raise money to purchase feeds for them and I consider this the biggest challenge."

"Food availability is a problem in our household. We intend to buy maize, sugar, cooking oil and other household necessities. If we spend $100, this will provide us food for one month. Additionally we'll buy some clothes and shoes for family members. It will cost $100. My husband needs monthly medication costing $5 a month. I will buy medication enough for 3 months to reduce worries on where to get his next medication. For future security we plan to buy more livestock. One cow at a cost of $400. This can be milked, meaning we'll have milk for both domestic consumption and sell. If I can sell at least 2 litres a day, I'll get $1.50. This will then help us as a family to buy food daily. In addition, we'll add 5 more goats. It's easier raising goats here and they grow faster. This will provide us with income security in the future."

"Am so excited to receive this money from Givedirectly as I am planning on first removing this house and constructing a bigger house of three rooms. I will also ensure I buy brand new iron sheets for roofing so that I can deal away with these sheets that are leaking. I plan on buying brown iron sheets, and each is at $11. In total, I am planning on buying 25 that's spending about $275 on the iron sheets. The entire construction will cost me about $350, including labour and materials. I am also planning on buying a cow of $416 that's already mature to produce a calf. This is because I want milk for my baby when it reaches time for weaning her."
