Kazungu
received a $26 fourteenth payment.
"Apart from improving my family’s well-being by providing food and supporting the education of my six children, I wish to revamp the roofing of my house. Over the period, the tin roof has corroded and developed perforations, which let it water when it rains, thus dampening the space. I have acquired up to 16 iron sheets through the previous cash transfers, the aim is to secure at least 25 pieces. Once I complete the renovation exercise, I wish to go back to buying goats and cows to expand my existing herd of five goats and three cows. I believe that this will build me enough wealth to provide for my family in the future. "

Haziz
received a $26 fourteenth payment.
"Because I do not have an alternative source of income except to rely on my cows. I have a goal of increasing my herd. I had suffered a big blow by losing over ten cows to drought. I have been using oxen to help me to plow so that I can earn a little income. I also obtain free milk from my cows. For the rest of this year, I hope to buy more goats that I will sell later to buy additional cows. Newly acquired livestock will add to the current three that have survived the prolonged drought in our area. I am grateful to GiveDirectly for its cash transfer that has made me resilient to the dry spell witnessed in our region."

Rukia
received a $26 thirteenth payment.
"By the end of the year, my biggest accomplishment will be owning a dairy cow. This is because having the cow will provide me with an alternative source of income through selling its milk in the market. To make this happen, I plan to cash in my goats and use the money to purchase a cow. Over the next few months, I will strive to save enough money to buy more goats, which I can eventually sell to raise the funds needed to buy the cow"

Richard
received a $409 second payment.
"Givedirectly has restored hope to the communities here in Bomet. I am glad that families have been uplifted from poverty as they have acquired assets using the transfers. For instance, in my family, we have purchased dairy cows and poultry, which are now income-generating activities for us. In addition, most households have gotten food without struggling, and children have had uninterrupted school sessions since the fees have been paid fully. I was personally relieved because it saves time to attend to other income-generating activities. I will further appreciate it if it conducts field visits to ascertain the authenticity of the usage and, if possible, adds more transfers."

Samson
received a $26 thirteenth payment.
"When I joined GiveDirectly's program, I knew I would begin to receive regular financial assistance. With that assurance, I set out a goal to construct a pit latrine in our home, as we had none. I started focusing on this project at the beginning of the year, and I am delighted I have accomplished it in three months. In addition, I intend to start raising goats and cows, as well as poultry farming. These undertakings will benefit me much in the long run as they expand. Although I have never raised other livestock, I am optimistic about the success of poultry farming because I began practicing it a couple of years ago."

James
received a $336 second payment.
"My goal for the upcoming year is to pay my four children's school fees on time so that I can manage other financial obligations in my household. By clearing the fees, I will be able to save money from my restaurant business to add two cows to my herd, which will help me pay for future school fees if my other sources of income fail. Currently, I rely on my restaurant and the sale of milk from an adjacent shop, which I expand whenever I can. I hope that when my children complete secondary school, I will have the resources to send them to their preferred schools."

Acquline
received a $337 second payment.
"My plan for the coming year is to grow my little farm by purchasing more land, which will allow me to strengthen both my subsistence and animal farming operations. By doing so, I hope to raise the amount of food I produce while decreasing my dependency on purchasing additional food. In addition, I intend to start keeping cows on my farm, which will supply my family with a sustainable source of dairy products. To accomplish this goal, I will save from the short crop season and leasehold farming, as well as investigate financing options that would allow me to acquire the additional property I require. Finally, I hope that this expansion will enable me to become more self-sufficient and capable of providing all my family's needs."

Sogome
received a $337 second payment.
"In the coming year, my primary goal is to fatten up the bullock that I own and sell it to purchase a dairy cow that will meet the milk needs of my family of five. While I have been buying milk using a transfer, owning a dairy cow would provide a sustainable and long-term solution to our milk needs. I plan to allocate more time and resources towards feeding the bullock and ensuring that it is in good health so that I can sell it at a good price. Once I purchase the dairy cow, I will also focus on its proper care and feeding to ensure it produces enough milk for our household. Overall, my hope is that this investment in a dairy cow will provide my family with a reliable and sufficient source of milk for years to come."

Salina

"My goal for the future is to acquire a cow, which would enable us to obtain milk at a lower cost than purchasing it from external sources. Despite various financial obligations, I remain optimistic that God will provide a way for me to obtain a cow when the time is right. I am grateful and content with the progress we have made thus far."

"When GiveDirectly promised me financial aid, I saw it as the perfect chance to improve my life. Despite my long-standing passion for tailoring, the expenses of my children's schooling had made it difficult for me to pursue it. Alongside farming, I occasionally sell honey, onions, and tomatoes at the Koriema shopping center. My husband serves as a police officer, and we have six children together. Using the second transfer, I put $100 towards a sewing machine that I had already begun to pay for with the initial transfer. Additionally, I invested $160 to fence my land and plant grass to feed my cows. Lastly, I bought a bag of maize, beans, and other food items. Without the transfer, none of this would have been feasible, and I remain immensely grateful for the life-changing opportunity it gave us."
