Ngenoh
received a $381 second payment.
"I am a teacher by profession, though I am not employed currently. One thing that I desire is for my children to have a good foundation for their education. So, in the years to come, I trust that I will be in a position to look for more ways of generating income, so I will not struggle to pay school fees when that time comes. Purchasing the cows was an investment for the future in that I will not be buying milk but rather using the expenses meant for it on something else and also selling extra milk to earn some money. I would also wish to drive a car in this world before I die, and so I am holding on to my wishes and putting everything in place to ensure that this dream is met."

Shida
received a $25 tenth payment.
"Within the span of a year, my objectives include constructing a new house for my children, as well as extending and repairing my existing house due to its age and vulnerability to strong winds. These plans entirely depend on the success of our farming endeavors. I'm hopeful that the harvest would ensure an abundance of food and enable us to save on our current food expenses. With these savings, we aspire to acquire additional cows for resale, thereby enhancing our financial stability and facilitating the comfortable payment of school fees.
Furthermore, we aim to expand our goat population, as they reproduce at a faster rate. Our plan is to sell them in order to accumulate funds for purchasing more cows. This approach will create opportunities for our children to pursue higher education, unlocking brighter prospects for their future."

Rajab
received a $25 fourteenth payment.
"Since I am responsible for my younger brother's well-being, I paid his school fees amounting to $20. This has been my commitment for more than a decade, even when I was still in school. I would raise funds, by engaging in casual work. Our father passed on and he was our only breadwinner. We were left with our mother to fend for us and that is why I joined to give a helping hand.
I have four children of my own to take care of. Though, I have always felt my brother's situation is urgent as he is in high school and he might end up being sent back home if his fees are not paid.
Our household, consists of seven members (my mother, spouse, two brothers, two children, and myself). So,I contribute towards other essential expenses as well. I then allocated $14 for food, purchasing maize flour and beans that sustained us for only two days.
In April, I spent $25 on farming. We used cows to plough and preparing the farm. We utilized one acre of land to grow maize and vegetables. Although the amount was insufficient, I took it upon myself to complete the tasks manually. The remaining balance of about $9 was used to buy food.
Last month, I decided to expand my farming activities just to ensure plenty of food supply. This costed $12 for additional maize seeds. I then managed to pay $10 for my younger brother's school fees. After all these expenses, I was left with $12, which we used on food."

Dama
received a $25 tenth payment.
"I am a single mother with a three year old child. I have been unable to feed and clothe my child due to my not having a source of income. I depend on my father for cash and he sends about $2 daily for the family to eat. We usually combine our finances with the rest of the family members to buy bundles of flour for the family to survive on for the month. So in March, April and May I gave $10 towards buying the flour bundles. I bought a number of dresses for my child in April and March and african fabric for myself in April and March. We combined finances in may and hired a plough and cows to help plough land and plant."

Hamisi
received a $25 tenth payment.
"My parents cannot afford my younger brother's school fees, and I have to step in and assist. I paid his school fees which amounted to $30. Additionally, they are struggling to provide books and other school requirements since he started his secondary education. He is currently in Form 3, and as a result of all this he stays with me.
In March, we spent $4 on food. I also had plans to rear chickens, sell them and accumulate enough funds to buy goats. So, I spent $15 to buy chicken. My ultimate goal is to establish a large-scale goat farming operation, followed by the purchase of cows. I'm sure will help me generate income which will serve as capital for starting a business. My other plan involves cultivating and selling vegetables to potential buyers.
In April, I allocated $5 for my brother's school fees and $14 for food. We purchased enough food for the household which is consisting of five members. This was to sustain us for a week.
In May, I decided to kick-start my livestock keeping venture, I invested $25 in acquiring a goat, in addition to allocating $9 for food expenses."

Kazungu
received a $25 tenth payment.
"Owning a vast livestock herd stands as my most significant achievement, representing wealth in our cultural context. My ultimate aspiration is to possess both dairy cows and bulls, which I can utilize for land cultivation and tilling during the planting season. Given the limited monthly income we receive, achieving this ambition all at once is impossible. However, through a step-by-step approach, starting with the purchase of goats and gradually transitioning to selling cows, I am steadily progressing towards the accumulation of the livestock I have always longed for."

Nyevu
received a $25 tenth payment.
"Utilizing my monthly transfers, I intend to establish an additional income stream that can complement both my husband's earnings and the produce from our farm. One of my aspirations is to acquire a dairy cow, as the sale of its milk will generate a significant income to meet some of my personal requirements. To realize this goal, I have devised a plan to purchase goats initially. Over time, as the goat population multiplies, I will sell some of them and utilize the proceeds to eventually buy the desired dairy cow."

Victor
received a $382 second payment.
"I used my money mainly for agricultural purposes and to improve my house. I have been doing casual labour in people’s farms as a farm hand and that gave me hands on skills for farming which I thought I could use to produce food for my family. I had a heifer which at the time had not been producing milk yet and I thought it wise to add another which already was producing milk and I spent $350 to buy a dairy cow that had just had a calf. I also bought seeds and paid people to till my land where I planted maize and beans. I also got a chance to put a ceiling in the house which I had built with my first transfers and bought chairs for the home."
