"I am currently a form two student at Balek Secondary school. The achievement I am proudest of is having acquired secondary education. Though I am not through yet, my plan is to work hard and acquire a certificate to take me to college where I intend to pursue a course in nursing. I am proud of going to secondary school because it has opened my mind to realize the career I want to pursue."

"The biggest hardship I have faced in my life was in 2016 when I had forgo school for three months due to lack of fees. It was hard because I was about to sit for a national exam; the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) yet I didn't have the necessary reading materials at home. This predicament was consequent to my mother's admission to Tenwek hospital for cancer which drained our family financially. I went back to school later but failed my exam. I accepted the results but I do not intend to continue with my education. "

"The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is lack of school fees. I was forced to drop out of school in standard 8 because my parents could not afford to pay my high school fee. This was hard for me since I had always believed that education would change my life positively. I lived in denial for a very long time but I finally chose to struggle and make sure that my children will not go through the same experience."

"We have always desired to give our children the best in terms of education. There are times when we had our children in various schools and we needed money to pay their school fees. We strained financially as a family and we ended up borrowing more than we were able to pay. It is still a problem up to date but we are struggling to clear the debts. This has been the biggest hardship in our lives."

"I had done my secondary education but I did not make it to join college for lack of school fees, so when I received my third transfer and second transfer, I managed to join college. I am taking a diploma course in teaching. I am hopeful that I will finish school and practice my career and feed my family more comfortably."
