How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I have been saving almost all the transfers that I have been receiving from Give Directly since last year with the hope of joining college and taking a course on masonry which has always been my passion. I have been working in construction sites in the past for income, but only as a handyman and my desire has always been to take the course and get a certificate so that I can be a mason. Having the certificate will also allow me to earn more as I can get contracts. I finally joined college this month and I couldn't be happier because I am well on the way to achieving my dream.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I just joined college where I am currently taking a course on masonry this month. I am still planning to use my transfers to pay my fees and take care of other requirements that I may need during the entire period that I will be in college, therefore I do not have a extra goal.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Before I joined college, I depended on casual house construction jobs that did not earn me much which made it tough to take care of my needs, especially after my mother passed away forcing me to fend for myself. With the help of these transfers, I was able to put up a poultry project that has been doing so well and has become an extra source of income to supplement my income from the casual jobs. My daily life became much better because I did not lack money for personal and household needs even during those periods that I was not able to get any jobs because I could sell some of the chickens or even the eggs to get money.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
Even though I am a full-time student, I also continue to work in house construction whenever I can so that I can be able to save more money for my college fees and my upkeep as Give Directly transfers will soon stop. This is quite hectic because I have no time to rest and my overall health will soon be affected. To have a better life, I decided to apply for a Higher Education Loan that is offered by the Government to college students which I hope will pay for a huge portion of my college fees so that my savings can be left to cater for my personal needs. When this happens, I will stop working during the weekends which will give me enough time to focus on my studies.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was in that, I no longer take loans like I used to do some months ago. I have also adopted a good saving plan which has really helped me handle emergencies. Borrowing money had been the norm. I lost most of the things that I worked very hard to get such as my phone in order to settle the debts. With a good saving plan, I have managed to balance the money well and even keep some as savings for my college education which I am yet to pursue.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to join college. I know that education is what will prepare and enable me to face the world and its challenges. I believe so because I will acquire the necessary skills that will help me handle the difficult situations that may come my way. I will also be in a better position to get employed because I will now have a certificate to show for the years that I will be in college.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is that life has improved. I have been able to accomplish several goals that I was not able to before I started receiving the transfers. I was able to meet most of my needs and still save some money. I have also managed to handle emergencies easily by using some of the amounts which I had saved. Previously. I could borrow money from my neighbors whenever there was an emergency and repaying was a problem. I ended up selling my phone or a hen just to cover for the debt that I had. I am glad that this has of late not happened because of a good saving plan that I started following.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect my life to change in that, I will have joined college. I have already decided on which course to take and very soon I will be among the learned few in this village. I decided to go to college because I believe education is everything. It is the only asset that nobody will take away from me. Even if I don't get employed, I can use the skills which I acquired to employ people instead.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Before I received money from GiveDirectly I was depending on my mother to provide everything and due to the little income she was making and the odd jobs I used to do was not enough to get me to college and now it has been five years staying at home. The biggest difference in my daily life is that I joined a college to pursue my goal which I have been longing for. I am really determined to achieve this goal since my mother who used to provide for me passed on early this year. I believe that I will succeed with this education because I no longer have anyone but myself.
