"I spent my second transfer to plaster my floor which was Initially smeared with cow dung and would wear out few weeks after smearing making it look really bad. Smearing the floor every now and again had also become quite cumbersome for my wife who is now elderly and sickly. As a result of this easened her burden and also provided a long term solution of mending the floor often. I also bought a bed and mattress because I did not have one and was sleeping on a mat which was uncomfortable and even shameful and could be easily be attacked by crawling insects at night. I am now happy that I can sleep comfortably and my bedroom also looks neat as compared to when we had an old mat without proper beddings. I also paid school fee for my daughter in secondary school who used to be sent home for fee arrears and would miss lessons. iI am at peace knowing that my daughter will stay in school and believes that her grades will also improve since she no longer misses her lessons."

"My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer because from the transfers I built my own home. Initially, I was living in my fathers compound which was small hence I could not rear my cows in it. Secondly, before Givedirectly sent me transfers, I used to do casual labour in peoples farm to feed my family and take care of my sick father. My family can now have all the meals unlike in the past when we used to go to bed hungry."

"Upon receiving the first transfer, I bought a bull and a cow for the purpose of paying the bride price for my wife that had been pending for quite some time now and the parents were on my neck. With the remaining amount I bought bulk household shopping that was depleted to sustain me for a longer period of time because I do not have a steady income and I am not sure of the next time I will receive such an amount of money."

"I spent my second transfer on buying two bullocks and one heifer for bride prize payments. My father in-law took my wife and three children hostage because I failed to pay Bride price. Before Give Directly transfers, I was totally poor without any cow due to the fact that my parents died when I was three years old. My maternal grandmother who brought me up also died before I married. I used to be mocked that I married someone's daughter on loan because in our customs, marriage can be rendered legitimate after taking cows to your in-law."

"I expect to enjoy a higher standard of living in the next six months. This is because my income will have doubled because of the huge projects that I will be running. I look forward to having a poultry farm to attract more money, a practice that I have not been doing. Besides, I am planning of owning three zero-grazing cows by that time. As a result, our family shall have adequate milk for consumption and even a surplus for sale to attain additional revenue. Still, in the next six months, I will have heavily stocked the shop that my wife runs. Subsequently, money will be flowing within our family."
