Japheth
received a $196 initial payment.
"I spent my most recent transfer to pay my house rent since it was the beginning of the month and I did not have money to pay for my house rent, bought a mattress since I used to sleep with my friend and when I received this money I saw the need to acquire one, used some amount to repair my hoover, deposited some amount in my brothers education help fund since we usually contribute some amount every month in aid of his education. I still have 3000 KES which I am saving for emergencies."

"Paying for school fees for my children has been an uphill task for me. I used to pay 6000 shillings to educate my children in primary school and when my daughter joined secondary school, I had to pay 8000 shillings per term towards her education alone. This amount strained the little resources I had and as a result, they occasionally had to be sent home because I could not raise the amount. I rely on farming to pay for their fees and lately, the rains have failed. "

"I have always struggled educating my children due to lack of money. I will be thrilled to receive this cash as I will use half of the transfer to offset the fee balance for this year and the rest to start a poultry business so as to provide a stable income to cater for my children's education as from next year. "As a family we are dependent on farming and my husband's job as a cattle herder in the nearby village called Guruguru. However, both are not enough to sustain us. My husband earns a salary of four thousand Kenya shillings every month which is not enough for food, education and other basic needs of my family. Farming too has not been fruitful due to the poor rains experienced in the area."

"There are three important things that I had desired to do but due to lack of financial resources, I have not been able to.
Purchasing stock of tailoring materials, buying oxen for ploughing and taking my daughter to a private school.Receiving this money is therefore a big boost in terms of achieving the three.
Tailoring will ensure we have a stable source of income while farming will enhance food security. Taking my child to a private school where quality education is ensured will give me the sense of a responsible parent and empower her to be self reliant."

"I intend to pay school fees for my two girls in secondary school and another who is joining them next year. I have always had the passion of ensuring that my children get the best education because I dropped out in class six due to lack of fees. I do not have any livestock hence I plan to buy two cows which would help me in getting fresh milk for my family and also plough my farm during the planting season. "

"The economic activity that I solely depend on is subsistence farming. However, this is not able to sustain my family of four members because the land is not so productive. Besides this I also sell the local brew, 'mnazi' and burn charcoal which is against the law. I have to do it because I need to get extra income to educate and feed my children. My desire has always been to educate my children, but due to financial constraints I have not been able to see them through secondary school. Therefore, I will use this transfer to purchase goats for rearing. Once they multiply I will sell them in Bamba market. I will also buy oxen and ox plough that I will use to plough my land and in other people's farms. Lastly I will start a hotel business next to Mwakwala primary school. This will enable me to have a stable income to cater for my family's needs such as education, food and clothing."

"Receiving this money means that I will be able to further my children's education and also recover my land back since some time back I gave out some piece of land as a loan security to someone within this community."

"My greatest desire is to be able to have sufficient crop production both for domestic consumption and for outside supplies, a business I intend to setup within the village. First of all, I will use part of my transfers to purchase two oxen and an ox-plough.Having that will enable me to prepare my land efficiently and in good time resulting to better harvest. Secondly, I will take my child back to college. He dropped out of school due to lack of school fee. It will be his greatest joy to finally complete his education and secure a better future. Finally, I will secure myself a better medical attention."

"My biggest worry is always about being unable to cater for my children's education.I struggle so much in life because I didn't get proper education and wouldn't want my children to go through the same.It worries me so much that even at the formative stage of their education, I can not give them the best due to lack of stable source of income."
