My life is now different in that I now have a better and spacious new house and I am now able to keep my children in school.

Give Directly has done well in improving the lives of people in my village. If you walk around the village, you will see new and beautiful houses that have been built from the transfers. Others are now herders as they now own livestock. I have also been able to keep my children who are in high school in school as I was able to pay their school fees. I spent my second transfer to pay school fees and to complete building my house that I had started building with my first transfers. My previous house was old and small. There was a part in the house that had collapsed but we still lived inside. I started building a house immediately I received my first transfers as we badly needed a house. My house is now complete and my family will now live in a better and spacious new house.

The biggest difference that the transfer has brought into my daily life is that previously, I was living in a house that was in a bad condition as it was leaking because its roof was old and beyond repair but my life now has greatly improved and changed for I was able to build a new and spacious house which I am now staying, courtesy of GiveDirectly.

On receiving my first transfer notification, I became so happy and thankful to GiveDirectly and to God. I felt empowered again to live a changed life after many struggles that I've gone through in my life. I kept on wondering where to begin now that the opportunity had suddenly come to my way.

I spent part of my first transfer on buying iron sheets and other building materials enough to construct a new house since the one I was sheltering in was in a bad state and I could not stay comfortably with my family. It was leaking in times of rains and because I didn't have money, I could not renovate it, for the small income I was earning from casual jobs went to food of which it was also inadequate. So building a new house was a priority after I received my first transfer. I also spent part of it to pay for school fees for my son and daughter who are in high school. Though I paid partly, It has created some time for me to look for more money to clear fees as they will be continuing with their studies undisrupted. I spent the remaining amount on buying new school uniforms for them and their siblings who are still at the lower levels of education. It is only GiveDirectly money that has enabled me to accomplish this, for my small income could not sort all of these needs.
