How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago in that I am now able to pay school fees for my two children who will be sitting for their exams this year. I recently lost my husband and it has been very difficult adjusting emotionally and financially since he played a big role in this family. I feel relieved because there was a probability that my kids would not finish school because of this.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I am planning to buy a sheep for rearing. I have always believed that sheep are the most valuable asset once can ever invest in. They usually require less attention and their food are always available. Apart from that, they are also very marketable. They also have a short gestation period which means within a span of one year, I will be having several lambs.

The biggest difference in my daily life ever since Give Directly came into my life is that I am able to meet our daily needs such as food. Previously providing food was hard sometimes since I am a widow and all responsibilities are on me. To add on that, I don't have a reliable source of income. Life had become difficult and I was almost giving up. I am glad that my children will never sleep hungry. I am in the process of planning myself such that by the time Give Directly's program comes to the end, I will have established an income-generating activity
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My expectation in the near future is to ensure that I pay all my children's school fees on time. I am hopeful that they will pass their exams and have a better future. I don't want to shatter their dreams by failing them as a parent. I am glad that Give Directly chose me as one of their beneficiaries and I am now able to pay their school fees with ease.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
School fees have been my biggest worry. When Give Directly came and gave us the cash transfers I decided to take the whole amount and paid the full amount of fees for this term. Now I can focus on other farm activities which can help me raise school fees for other terms and also be able to meet our family needs.

I am planning to save my monthly transfers in the next four months. I am planning to start doing poultry farming. Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the fact that we now have enough and healthy food for me and my children. Before I started receiving these transfers, I could sometimes work as a casual laborer for a long time and still earn so little that may not be enough for a day's basic consumption. I am happy and do not worry because even if I am not lucky to earn some money at the end of a day, I can still feed my family.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect that in the next few months, my maize will do well because I planted a good breed and that When we hatrvest, I will have enough food for a better part of the year. I also expect my children to study well and I have hope that they will pass. I want our lifestyle to improve
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
When I received Decembers transfer, bought and planted hybrid maize seeds and planted a good size of land. Before, I used to plant local maize in a smllpiece of land ass we had no money to get a tractor and till a larger area and this resulted in low yield and hence little food for us.
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
I am planning to improve my poultry farm. Right now I have a small poultry house keep afew chicken and I have planned to build a bigger house and buy more chicken to rear. Poultry keeping does not require so much capital to start and does not require so much skills to run.
