In the next one month, I will be harvesting some spring onions I had planted using the transfers, I am glad that GiveDirevtly empowered me to venture into such activities. How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My expectation in the next six months going forward is to be someone that can be depended on in both financial matters and social matters. This is possible if I am financially stable and I hope that what I get from the sale of farm produce and that which I receive from GiveDirectly will propel me towards this objective. I also wish to have my own cow for rearing that will supply us with milk and I will sell some for an income

Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, I have a new goal to purchase another cow since I have been having a plan to start dairy farming. I have been thinking of doing something which will keep reminding me of the great things brought into my life by GiveDirectly and venturing in livestock farming has proven to be the most convenient of all.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
After receiving the first transfer from GiveDirectly, I decided to join a merry-go-round where we had been paying 1000 KES monthly. This decision has helped me a great deal in managing my savings since I had the intention of purchasing a heifer. Th the last four months, I have been able to purchase a heifer worth 15000 KES after receiving my turn from the group. This to me has been the biggest difference in my daily life in the past four months. I am now happy that the heifer I bought is almost calving down, a sign that soon I will start selling milk to earn some income.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to see my productivity in farming rise since I currently have a half an acre of spring onions on my farm. Subsistence farming seems to be the easiest way of making money in our village since most of the short season crops are really doing well - the reason why I have capitalize on farming.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have been able to build my own house. Before I started receiving these transfers, my brothers and I were living in a small house and we were very crowded. With the transfers, I have been able to put up a small house that has enabled us ease the congestion. I have also been able to improve my farming practices with these transfers. I always looked forward to planting onions but with the little income that I got from my casual work, I have not been able to do this. I often ended up planting maize which took longer time to mature and gave very little returns. I have since been able to buy the seedlings and put more land under cultivation. I am looking forward to a huge harvest and more income to do other income generating activities.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I shall have started a small business like a general shop. My dream has always been to run a business and with GiveDirectly transfers, I know I will achieve this. This, I plan to do by saving up on my transfers through merry go round contributions and saving the proceeds from my farm as well. I am looking forward to running a successful business and even expanding it in future.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different in that I no longer work too much as a casual laborer since I have been empowered economically. With the assets that I own, I have been able to keep myself busy with these income generating activities as I strive to make a difference in my life each and every passing day. I have peace of mind and therefore can plan on what I want to achieve and work towards achieving it. I am so indebted to GiveDirectly for the support that I am getting from them. This shall definitely bring a difference in my life.
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
In the next four months, I have plans of buying a dairy cow. With the proceeds from my onion farming and the savings from the monthly transfers, I expect that I shall have enough money to buy a dairy cow over the next four months. This shall not only empower me economically but also help our family at large in getting the most basic commodity milk which is sometimes hard to find in the village.
