How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Initially, I had a plan of rearing dairy cattle, but with limited finances, I could not carry on with the plan and therefore decided to do other businesses. But with GiveDirectly coming through, I decided to reconsider my plans and I bought cattle that would be of help in terms of milk production knowing that in the near future, I will be one of the milk suppliers within the neighborhood.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly ensures that those who are truly needy and less fortunate are the people who benefit from their programs.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
With my most recent transfers, I bought a dairy cow and managed to construct the cow's she'd.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was on my way to school where I am currently working as a teacher when I received a message confirming the receipt of my first transfer. I was filled with joy knowing that the business project we have been hoping to improve was soon going to work out. I thanked God and informed my husband that I had received the amount we had been expecting. He was so excited as well and since we had already made up our minds to save as we await the second transfer, he advised me not to transfer it to our saving account.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
After receiving the first transfer, I had been hopeful and more focused on expanding our hardware business. Together with my husband, we had been working hard to improve this, and receiving such huge support has brought the biggest difference in my personal life with the hope of economic growth in my family of nine.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
As a teacher with my husband working as a civil servant too, we had been working hard to expand the business that we established at the start of this year. We have been working on a hardware project that is selling most of the construction materials and we have hoped to expand it in case we get extra finances. On receiving the first transfer from GiveDirectly, it was a great opportunity for us to invest and grow it further. We decided to save the whole amount that we received on the first transfer as we await the second transfer that we will later use in obtaining all the items that we are currently missing in the hardware. I am confident that the total expected transfer of KES110,000 will see the business flourish to a realization of a better profit margin to support my family of nine.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am planning to start modern dairy farming but all my income had been going to school fees payment. This made me unable to start this project. I will use this money (KES 100000) to achieve my dream of owning a dairy farm. This will help me tap more income from the sale of milk.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am a teacher by profession, this makes my day's schedule more engaged. During the evening hour, I am back from school and done with my chores, I would spend my time relaxing and telling stories with my family as we wait for supper to be ready. This makes my evening the happiest part of the day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I have more children persuing their education at college level and secondary school level. This has been costly and consumes most of my income. This creates financial instability us.
