Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. I never thought I could get such a huge amount of money in my entire lifetime leave alone that which is non refundable. I called my friends and neighbors from within the village and we all celebrated this rare opportynity.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the newly built house. I never thought I could accomplish this achievement anytime soon. I am proud and happy that I have been able to complete this construction.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used all of my recent transfer to build a new house. I had always wished that I could get enough money that would enable me build a new house but the little amount of money that I got from my casual works were barely enough to meet the cost of the basic needs. On receiving this transfer, I embarked on a serious mission of building this house and which I have since completed its construction.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am planning to buy a dairy cow to generate income for my children's education. This will cost about $150 of my first transfer. I will no longer have to engage in tedious wood pecking so I can sell to take care of my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Being a rainy season, I wake up to my sweet potato farm early in the morning. This is the only thing I find joy in doing since it sustains my family with food, now that maize is no longer doing well.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I have been a widow for a long time and raising my six children alone has been an uphill task. I have worked extra hard from selling firewood, doing menial jobs in the village to tedious quarrying, all for the education and upkeep of my children. Unfortunately, these undertakings have taken a great toll on my health. Besides, I am growing old. While five of my children are in primary and secondary school, my greatest worry is that I will run out of time and I may not in a position to accord them the privilege of quality and enough level of education.
