How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has changed because through these cash transfers, I acquired a bicycle which has eased my movements. In addition, soon I will be sleeping in my permanent house . Previously, I could walk for long distance to access medical services. Currently, I'm still sleeping in leaking thatched house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well by enabling me to build a permanent house and acquire things which I was lacking like a goat and a bicycle. GiveDirectly has not done anything wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I bought building materials ( 3 trips of sand, timber and 5 bags of cement) and a goat. There is a balance of UGX 800,000 which I'm planning to spend on labour and building materials.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest change in my daily life is that, I have acquired a bicycle that has eased fetching water and taking my child to the hospital, I can now carry 4 jerrycans at once with my bicycle. I have also got bricks for constructing a permanent house for myself. Before, I used to move on foot to fetch water, carrying only one jerrycan that was time consuming and tiresome. I was not having money to buy bricks much as I wanted to construct a permanent house.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I became very happy the moment I received money, because I knew that I would buy a bicycle for fetching water.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer for purchasing a bicycle at UGX 150,000 that I am currently using for fetching water and my other movements. I also bought a bed at UGX 180,000, a mattress UGX 200,000, 5 trips of bricks at UGX 800,000, paid school fees at UGX 150,000 and food at UGX 70,000. I have not spent UGX 150,000 but I'm planning to spend it on plouhging, buying seeds and planting.
