How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is better now because of GD than it was in the past. Food has been a challenge because my harvest is always low. I don't apply fertilizer when cultivating and this year, I will be able to apply. I also used my money to buy 5 bags of maize and part of the money is being used to buy my day to day needs.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GD provides a platform for everyone to benefit in the program. Most of us, are the beneficiaries of the program. Other NGOs just focus on a few people to be part of their program. The amount of money we have received is also enough for a person to build a house. So much has changed in this village such that people have built houses.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My focus was on finalising my house which I started building using the first transfer I received. I bought 26 iron sheets and paid labor for the one was replacing the roof. I also bought 5 bags of maize so that I can improve food security. My house is very big which will accommodate all of my family members.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very excited when I received an sms alert from GiveDirectly that I have received my cash grant. It was a special moment for me because for once I knew that my financial difficulties will be a thing of the past.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life due to this transfer is that I will no longer sleep under a leaking roof. This is alot of money and I'm confident my life will improve both health wise and in terms of peace of mind.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have not yet spent the cash but Iam planning to build a proper house. I have currently employed some labourers who are moulding bricks for the said project. All the expenses for this project will come from this transfer from GiveDirectly.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money really means so much to me,i'm so much excited about the whole programme i know for sure that some of my problems will be sorted.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day depends on my daily moods sometimes a day can pass without me being actually happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship is having a proper source of money such as a business, its only my husband who is a bread winner and not helping him to support this family everyday breaks my heart. As soon as i get the transfer i want to invest,I'm thinking of selling second hand clothes and i know this business will work for me because no one really does that in this village.
