How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Presently, our lives are much different because the cash transfer enabled us to pay off old debts thus repossessing our farm land that had been attached as collateral. I also acquired two oxen that will boost our work force. This will increase our food productivity. Previously, we had no money to pay off our debts. We had less farming land and this affected our food supply since we depend entirely on agriculture. Luckily, GiveDirectly launched in our community and this has brought hope and joy into our lives.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well to send the poor people cash transfers that have empowered them to execute various plans.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the cash transfer to purchase two oxen and the balance was spent on buying other necessities.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is being able to acquire my personal assets such as a bull and my garden that I will use to team up with someone in the neighborhood and carry out timely cultivation and have extensive farming respectively. This has greatly given me a peace of mind.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money, I felt so happy that I had to kneel down, prayed and thanked God for having brought GiveDirectly to the area to reduce the poverty in my life and that of the community at large.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer Ugx 500000 to buy a bull as in my culture, it is very difficult to cultivate without using oxen. I got back my garden land at Ugx 500000 that my husband had given out in exchange of money that was used for my treatment at the time I was operated. I bought some groundnut seedlings that I planted at Ugx 100000. I am saving up the balance for other emerging issues.
