How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
No! I have no new goal. My old goal has always been to build my own house and to see my children becoming future leaders. I have not been able to achieve this due to lack of money. I live in a friends house with my family. I am a farmer. Before receiving money from GiveDirectly things were a bit difficult for my family. I am so grateful that I got enrolled in this program. My life will never be the same again. I am excited that I will be living in my own house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I am so grateful for this opportunity GiveDirectly has given me. I had no means of having a house of my own. I had lost hope. I was so excited when I received my payment. Th ings will never be the sane again for my family. So far they have not done anything unwell. We are excited for this program.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have it withdrawn my payment but when I do, I am planning to pay the rest of my children tuition. I am also planning on paying the contractors that will do do my building project. I will also use a little amount to buy a bag of rice and some other food items. This program is improving our lives. We are so grateful for it.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am grateful to Givedirectly for the continue cash support. There are one major burning issue that I am targeting before receiving this transfer. The new goal I have set is to build new house. My current house is badly leaking because the thacth over the roof is old. I want to build new house and roof it with zinc. Thanks to Givedirectly for the cash support .I believe that with my transfer, my dreamed to live in decent house will come to pass.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Givedirectly is really doing well for us in this village. Givedirectly staffs do not accept Gifts from community members. Givedirectly staffs almost enrolled everyone in this village on the program with the exception of those who were not available to be surveyed. Thanks to Givedirectly for the cash supports. I want to recommend to Givedirectly that there are few persons who are still on revisits. Giveirectly should try to complete their processed on enrollment.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my most recent transfer to buy two bundles of white color zinc . I want to build three bed rooms house with concrete cement. My family needs to eat. I used part of my transfer to buy one bag of 25kg rice for eating. Thanks to Givedirectly for empowering me financially. I believed that with my transfer from Givedirectly, my suffering will soon be over.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I went to the spot we usually get connected to the network when I received a message notification on my phone. When I read the message, it was the mobile money message from GiveDirectly that we have been eagerly waiting to receive. With joy I immediately ran back to my house and told my wife about it. The next day I got dressed and went to Buchanan city to cash out the money.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I have suffered a lot to cut thatch especially when the rainy seasons come. The biggest difference since I started recieving payments from GiveDirectly is that, I feel relieved of the burden of cutting thatch every rainy seasons. Moreover, I going to now be sleeping under a zinc house where I not have to change the position of my bed when it is raining. I used to buy rice by cup for my household to eat but now I am able to buy rice by bag which can last with us for weeks before buying another one.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am going to use this recent transfer to buy two bundles of zinc and bag of rice. I have long wanted to have a zinc house to ease the burden of traveling long distances to cut thatches to replace the old ones but getting the finance to do it has been a challenge for me. Now that I have the opportunity I am going to make a maximum use of it to build a zinc house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
"My household doesn't own a house which have caused us to sleep in a single room in my in-law house. When I receive the money from GiveDirectly, I will use portion of it to build a house and used the remaining one to send my children to school".
What is the happiest part of your day?
"I was seriously ill in the last 6 months and never had money to go to the hospital, but unfortunately my elder sister came and give me money to go to the hospital, though I'm not totally well but when I receive the money from GiveDirectly, I will go to better hospital for better treatment. That's what makes me happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"The challenge I'm currently facing is lack of money. My household is involved into farming, but the proceeds from the farm is not enough to cater to my household needs and at the same time build a house and send my children to school".
