How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The greatest difference in my life is that I bought a cow. I was spending a lot of cash buying milk for use at home but when I received the money from GiveDirectly I bought a lactating cow which gives us enough milk for use. My children have not been sent home for school fees since I was able to clear the school fee for the whole year. Again I built a house which I had been yearning to built for a long time. With all this great achievement in my life, I see a great change which was made possible by GiveDirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Ever since I was born, we have never received any donations. When Give Directly came to our village it was like a dream as I wouldn't believe that someone can just give us KES 110000 which I would not return at last. Registration was awesome as every household in the village was enrolled based on their criteria which were okay with us.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
The second transfer which I received from GD, I spent part of it to purchase a cow. I had sold all which we had to cater to my children school fees. I have three children in university, college and secondary school. The only way I would raise money for their school fees is through the sale of assets which I had. The remaining amount I spent on building a new house and purchase food.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the ability to send my children to school.They were staying at home because I had not paid school for them.I had asked for fundraising in my village so many times until no one was willing to contribute.In fact my husband had gone into a situation that looked like depression or stress.But all changed when we received this transfer.He is happy and looks healthier.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was happy when I received this money .It saved me from school fees stress and daily needs like food in my family.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the first transfer on school fees for my children.I was struggling to pay school fees and had even sold all my livestock to pay fro them.I also build a house and bought a cow to rear in my farm.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship we have faced is the lack of enough funds to give our children the best in terms of education. We were not able to educate all our children especially the first borns due to financial difficulties. This disturbed me a lot as a parent since I felt I had failed in my responsibility as a parent.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon when I have taken my lunch and can now relax in my compound. This is the time when I am alone and I do not get any disturbances from members of my family.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
As we speak, we hardly have anything as an asset for the household. Our children who are in various schools have drained almost everything within the household. Receiving this money would mean that we can bring back some of the things we used to have and which will go a long way in helping us meet most of our daily needs. We also have students to support in various schools.
