What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
My life has been of sorrow because of the nature of my house which was grass thatched and it collapsed. This made me to seek refuge from my daughter's house which is also not complete. My desire has been to construct a decent iron-roofed house for both the three of us. This will guarantee me a peaceful life since we will no longer feel the discomfort of having our beddings exposed to any passerby. This plan will cost me utmost $600 of the transfers. Part of the remaining mount ($200) will help me to buy 4 goats to act as my long-term investment project to support us in the future. The remaining amount will support my grandchildren's education. Thus, this is what receiving this money means to me.
What is the happiest part of your day?
What I count on to have brought happiness in my life over the last six months is the good health that my family have had. This is something I can not take for granted because life could have been so tough when one had fallen sick. For this reason, I am so grateful to God and this keeps giving my life a meaning.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The lack of a reliable source of income stands out as my biggest challenge at the moment. This is because, I depend on subsistence farming which is not sustainable due to the unpredictable weather patterns. This has made me to struggle a lot to put food on the table. Since I also have a daughter who is deaf and dumb, she can not fully provide for herself because she is limited to small casual jobs within the community. This means we sometimes rely on my son who also have a family to take care of and this makes his support limited. What a life of stress!
