How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
When my house fell, I cried nonstop, thinking of how and where I would get the money to renovate it in my state of poverty. As I speak now I see a major difference; my house has been renovated, there is a roof over my head, the walls are smooth. And even though I have a long way to get the floor done, I am still very grateful to GD for pushing me to this level.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Give Directly is the best organization to grace our area. It is an organization that has kept it's promise
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used the money to buy cement which was used to refurbish my house that had initially fallen. Give Directly Field Officers took pictures of the remains of my house when they came during registration, hence refurbishing my house had always been the plan. It was unsafe and I had no means of raising the money required to reconstruct it. But with these funds I was able to pay builders a total of MWK130,000 as well as use the remainder on a mattress as well as food.
