How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Ma Esther, before GD came, I planned to recondition my house but could not be realized due to lock of funding. My farming and the products sales could not raise enough money to do the renovation for my house. But when I was enrolled as a recipient on the GD program and received my first and second transfers. With the first and second transfers, I started the renovation process. I now able to buy enough food for the family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My husband ( Anthony Tugbo) was injected in his dream that has led to his benig disabled since February 2020 . Prior to his illness he and I were in a subsistence and cash crops farmings for many years after he graduated from high school in 1981... We built a house with zinc on roof from the proceeds of our farms in which there are two rooms set aside for strangers... Since my husband came down with the illness things have turned so difficult for us because we don't take good care of our crops to produce well like before. Every save we held had been used on his illness and the results are fruitless. I have planned to take him to Jackson F. Doe referral hospital in Nimba County for check up and use some of the unconditional cash transfer from GiveDirectly to hire workers for our coacoa farm .
What is the happiest part of your day?
Despite of his illness, some of his friends occasionally took our visits and give us little cash . The fact that we are residing in our own three bedrooms house always brought joy and happiness to me because it would had been a tragic if we wouldn't have build this house that is a blessing for us at the moment .
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The disability of my husband Anthony Tugbo is the most challenging thing I am faced with since 2020 . He was the bread winner for our family and sence his illness I have been finding it hard to get our daily food . He doesn't walk and I have to take him to our out side bathroom for bathing , activities that need real strength to happen and this is being done on a daily basis. I am not a young women because I am above 50 and for a 50-year-old woman to be taking care of disabled husband is a miserable thing to do . My life has changed from better to worse since this nightmare took over us .
