How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before receiving this transfer, I had an ox that I would combine with the neighbour's for us to do farming together. However, the sharing of oxens often brought disagreements which led to delays in farm ploughing. After recieving my second money, I added an ox to compliment the one I had. Therefore I now have my own oxen which I use without any disagreements and delays.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well to give me money that I spent to buy an ox and iron sheets. GiveDirectly has not done anything bad on my side.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to purchase an ox, clothes and a mattress.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I feel so happy because part of the cash transfer cleared off an old debt. This enabled me to reclaim my three farmlands which had been attached as collateral. This had bothered me for four years. I was worried of losing my farmlands to the money lender. I am looking forward to supporting my family with this cash transfer, thanks to GiveDirectly.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received the cash transfer at night and I was overwhelmed with joy when I checked the mobile money account. At first I thought it was a hoax message. I was happy because it had never crossed my mind that GiveDirectly could fulfill their promises.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the first cash transfer to pay school fees for the children worth UGX 196600. I paid a debt worth UGX 800000. I purchased iron sheets worth UGX 160000 and a cow worth UGX 320000. I plan to spend the balance of the cash transfer to purchase more cows.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means completing consttuction of my permanent house. I sleep in a grass thatched house that i infested with rats and has holes in it. That will reduce the burden of renovating houses every year which is quite costly.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Evening is my happiest part of the day. I am happy because it's the time I evaluate the entire day's work and appreciate it.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Building a semi permanent house is my biggest challenge because I started constructing a semi permanent house but stopped at the beam level. I have filed to complete it for two years now.
