Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment when I received my cash transfer I was so cheerful and thankful..The money meant a lot to me and my family as I had so many difficulties when it comes to finding food.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving these payments is that in the past I could not afford to take care of my family in terms of buying food..Most times I used to sleep on an empty stomach and at times only ate once..But with the transfer, I am able to eat three times a day and the food is very delicious and healthy.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Firstly, I have managed to purchase food..I bought 6 bags of maize and I spent an approximate amount of $108..Before the transfer, I did not have any bags of maize in my house so the maize that I bought will take me up to next year and my family will be food secured. I then bought agricultural materials such as fertiliser and seeds..The fertilizer that I bought will help in boosting soil fertility thereby increasing maize growth rate...I spent about $150 on the fertilizer. Lastly, I used the other part of money to purchase more goods on my already existing business..I sell pots in my village and invested part of the money as a way of saving so that in future when I make profits I can be able to spend it on buying some basic needs.

What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
When I get this money, I will use it to buy fertilizer and also food since I don't have any. I will also use the same money to improve my house but putting iron sheets and windows.
What is the happiest part of your day?
There hasn't been anything that brought joy in our household in the past months.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
We are currently facing food insecurity challenges. We didn't have a chance to get the subsidy fertilizer and couldn't buy on our own. The rains stopped at a critical time and that impacted greatly on our yields. We ended up harvesting just 4 bags and that ran out already. We depend on buying now, and with the prices we are barely keeping up.
