How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before receiving this transfer, I had a plan to acquire bigger sauce pans that I would hire as a way of generating income for my children's education but I couldn't afford by then. However, after I received my first money, I was enable to deposit half the price of the 4 sauce pans of my choice and I am going to complete the payment with this second transfer. I expect these sauce pans to generate income for my children's education and my farming activities. In addition, I have a cow that will produce milk and help with children's education when it reproduces.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well to give me cash that I used to acquire bigger sauce pans for hire. To me GiveDirectly has only done well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second to purchase a cow, foodstuffs and jamboost. I have not yet spent UGX 832,000

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The greatest difference is that I have access to transport because the cash transfer enabled the repair of the motorcycle. Previously, transport was a big concern to me. I had to walk for long distances or had to hire a bicycle. More so, the cash transfer has also facilitated easy harvesting of my food crops.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I overheard people shouting that night. However, I checked my phone and read the message which stated that I had received money from GiveDirectly. At that moment I was full of joy and excited for the cash transfer.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent UGX1300000 to purchase four saucepans for a catering business and UGX120000 was spent on repairing the motorcycle. I spent UGX100000 on food and the remaining balance I plan to spend it on harvesting my food crops.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will spend it for buying big soucepans. My village mates will be hiring them to use in the functions and fenerals. This will be making money for me to spend in sustaining the needs of my children especially education them.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of the day is evening hours. I take tea while listening to my radio music which refreshes my self after a busy day of work. My mind gets tuned to do other development plans for my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is lack of money. My children are studying in makerere univerty business school but I do not have any better source of earning for paying their fees hence they report to school late. This is affecting their studies and they are performing poorly.
