How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has taken different sharp ever since I got these transfers in that, I acquired a motorbike for transportation business which gives me at most a profit of twenty thousand shillings in a good day. I'm now able to meet the basic needs of my family like treatment as opposed to when I depended on casual labour which could not meet all the needs.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well by enabling me start a motorbike business which is sustaining my family. GiveDirectly has not done anything wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used my second transfer to complete paying for a motorbike, bought clothes and a sheep.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference is that we are earning daily income through the motorcycle that we purchased. This is my greatest achievement so far because previously I had no income generating activity. We depended entirely on the sale of the surplus food crops.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received the cash transfer at night. However, my spouse woke me up and said that I had received a message. I was happy because we were struggling financially.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I purchased a motorcycle worth UGX 1500000 and UGX 200000 was spent on purchasing a cow.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to buy oxen and an ox-plough that will support in farming. I also hope to build an iron roofed house so that I am able to accommodate visitors. This will take care of privacy issues in my home.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when I am listening to radio programs. It is where I get my encouragement.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of oxen. I don't have oxen that would support in cultivation and yet I have some land that would really support me. I hire each time I want to plant but this is expensive for me. I do casual labour in order to raise money for hire. However, it is a very inconviniencing thing to do. I have never had the chance to plant in time since the owners can't release their oxen until they are done with their work.
