Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. I was out doing my odd casual jobs to make ends meet for my family when I heard my phone ring. I could not believe my eyes on seeing that I had indeed received a sum of KES 55000 from GiveDirectly. My mind could only ring payment of school fees for my 3 children who entirely rely on me.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference is that I am now living a more stress free life. I was able to pay school fees for my three children and this has made me feel relaxed. There is no better joy for me than to see my children whom I am providing for fully settle down in school.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used KES 13000 to pay school fees for my three children who are in various schools. I lost my wife long time a go when my children were still young and I was left with the responsibly of taking care of them fully including payment of school fees.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means quality education for my children. I have four children who are in school. I have been struggling a lot to pay for their school fee's since am the only one around and without source of income thing's have been very hard. When I receive the transfer, I will spend KES 40,000 on paying school fees for the children and clear the balance I owe the school. I will buy a Daily cow Worth KES 40,000 since I don't have a cow, I always buy milk and when I do not have cash it means that day we will not have it. The remaining amount will go for foodstuffs, Clothing's and other households needs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening. This is the time I get to rest after a long day in the farm or an doing casual jobs. My body gets re-energized as I look forward to the next day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Financial constraints is the biggest hardship I have faced in my life. Being the sole provider in my family and having grandchildren to raise is not an easy task. Depending only on casual jobs has been the trend in my life, when I get the job it means I have something to give to the family, when I do not it means my children will sleep hungry that day making me feel so sad as a parent.
