Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is the great hope born of full involvement in a great project which I am seeing it finally unfolding in my life. This to me is a life-changer and every other member of my family is excited that something great, something new is coming home and will be there to stay for a longer time benefiting other coming generations.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was six o'clock in the morning I received a message on my phone from GiveDirectly, on reading it the feeling was unusual, excitement was very high and could not hold the happiness but had to shout calling the name of my wife who was already awake and at then she was busy preparing our breakfast. What I felt would be compared to what someone could feel in heaven. It was my first time in my entire life to be in possession of such a huge amount of money. Not only receiving the money in my phone but also the fact that the money was mine together with my family was believable. I can not remember taking breakfast nor any other meal but all I know is that I was full the whole of that day. We called for a group meeting where all the members from the initially formed group met on trial to discuss how we will pick the project but all we could do over that meeting was laughing as we stare at the promising sky. We pray and praised and thanked God for the great provision through GiveDirectly and all along it has been our prayer that GiveDirectly may have a long life so that it may continue with the life-transforming projects.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
Since we received the money we decided to form a group with other 12 members from the two bordering villages, we have been putting down strategies on obtaining a big maize-milling machine. I have not spent any coin out of the transfers I received since we agreed with my wife together with my first born son that the best was to invest our money in joining that group. We are looking forward to availing and installing a maize miller which have been a great problem since the nearby machine is more than 5 Kilometers away. We should have started contributing for the same but we decided to give time to part of the members who have not received their transfers and were promised to receive in October this year. The idea of bringing in the machine and the decision to locate it between the two villages is for the purpose of equally serving both villages and to be a good income generating plan starting now and even in the future when we will be handing over the management to our children.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that my life will be able to change for the better. I plan to start My own posho mill business. It is a very lucrative business venture in our community and I am sure that the income gained will enable me to sustain my family's needs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is at midday when I am sharing lunch with my family. Seeing them seated together and enjoying their lunch makes me feel satisfied because in our community affording a mid day meal is always not very easy for most families.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am facing is inability to attain a stable source of income to sustain my family's needs. As a farmer, the recurrent drought seasons being experienced in our community has really affected my farms output thus getting income to provide necessary needs such as buying food, educating my children and even providing them with a decent shelter has become a big challenge.
