My goal is to build my own house because I want to live a more comfortable life with my two children, building a house for my family will make me relax and satisfied. I have been living in my parent's house for more than 10 years now because of financial problems. Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
On November 19, 2021 I was sitting at my house during the morning hours when I heard my phone message tone. When I checked it, it was a transfer message from GiveDirectly indicating that I have received money from GiveDirectly on my mobile money account. I was so happy that day because things have been so hard for me in recent time; that is why I am so grateful to GiveDirectly for the transfer.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I have been thinking about sending my six year old son to school but wasn't able to do it because of lack of money; but since GiveDirectly helped me with the transfer, I was able to send my son to school. I also have been sleeping on a floor without matress since my boyfriend left me along with all my house materials; but through this transfer, I was able to buy new matress and other materials for my room especially the ones that were taken away from me by my boyfriend.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my most recent transfer to buy furnitures for my house; I also paid my children school fees. I started building my house because the house I am living in right now is not mine; and I have been hoping of building my own house. I bought food for my family also; the remaining amount was saved for future purpose.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I will use my transfer to start a business, send my two children to school and finally build my own house.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Seeing my son who was sick for over a month recover has brought me joy. Whenever he's playing with his friends that also brings me joy knowing that I won't have to worry about where to get money for his treatment.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I don't have my own place to stay; my two children are not going to school and getting money to feed and take care of other needs is difficult. I'm currently in my aunt house and it is not in a good condition. The roof is leaking, the floor and walls are not plastered with cement. Whenever it rains, we have to move to my aunt room to sleep. I also have two kids. A boy and a girl and their father left me since 2018 when I was pregnant for my second child and since then, things have been very difficult for me. They're currently not in school because I don't have the finance to pay their school fees. I have to take on daily contracts collecting coal from other people farms before we get money to eat for the day. Whenever they get sick, I have beg others in the town to help me before they get treated.
