Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My biggest achievement is a constructing a three roomed house which is currently at the ring beam level. I had lived in a grass thatched house for over 30 years and I had no hopes of ever constructing a permanent house. All thanks goes to GiveDirectly for making this dream come true for me.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received the mobile money message early morning when I had just woken up. I was relieved when I read the message because I had plans of constructing a house.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I bought bricks worth UGX840000 and cement worth UGX500000 and sand worth UGX240000. The balance was spent on food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house that my family can sleep in comfortably. Currently, some of my children have grown up and sharing a house with them is very inconviniencing. There is no privacy at all.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when I am seated with my children. They talk about the different experiences that they interface with from school which makes me lough.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is inadequacy of money to take care of the education needs of my children. There is no clear source of income and yet there is need to educate children.
