What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am very happy to receive money from GiveDirectly. I plan to use this money to build a house. I have chosen to build a house because the one that I have is not in good shape. It has a leaking roof and it gives me problems during rainy season. The house is also small that it cannot accommodate my whole family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is when I have money to buy food. The money comes from the piece works that I do. Having enough food makes me happy because when I am having food is the time that I sit down and chat with my wife and my children.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I face is lack of money and lack of food. I face these challenges because the money that I make is not enough. As a casual labourer I make MK1500 a day which is not enough for me to buy food for my family. I plan to buy some bags of maize using the money so that I can have enough food for my family.
