What did you spend your third transfer on?
I spent my third transfer on purchasing 2 cows with hopes that they would reproduce and provide me with milk. I also paid school fee for my son in secondary school who had dropped out of school for 2 years due to poverty. I am now certain that the son will complete his education and accomplish his goals that he had set.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different that it would have been if I never received any transfer since my son who had dropped out of school 2 years ago got an opportunity to go back to school, something I would not have managed on my own.

In my opinion, GiveDirectly has worked well in ensuring that the transfers are not delayed. That has made people rely so much on it.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is being able to get daily meals for my family without struggling. Before receiving the transfers I could work on peoples farm for me to feed both my children and orphaned grandchildren.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to buy a goat which I had really longed to own. I then bought a bag of maize for food and the remaining amount was spent on clothing.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was seated in my house wondering what I will prepare for my grandchildren when they come back from school. I was so happy when I checked my phone later and so the Mpesa message from GiveDirectly and prepared a nice meal for my grandchildren that day.

What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I would like to use part of the money to buy two cows for milk. Secondly l would wish to pay school fees for my child who is in form one and has fees problem. Finally l would like to fence my compound to enhance security for my family since l am a widow.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
My proudest achievement is that l have struggled to build my own house though l have not been able to complete it because of lack of finance.

My biggest hardship in life is unreliable source of income to take care of my children.
