Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference so far is that I have secured a plot of land. I also acquired a solar power battery which provides lighting at night. I nolonger have to enter my house in darkness. I am happy that I was able to achieve these property with the GiveDirectly cash transfer. At my age I would not have been able to purchase that plot of land.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was woken up by the buzzing of the phone followed by overwhelming shouts of joy from the neighborhood. I called out my last born to read the message for me. I felt very happy when he read the mobile money message to me.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first cash transfer to purchase a plot of land worth UGX 1300000. I bought a solar battery worth UGX 25000 and a radio worth UGX 35000. I bought a pair of bed sheets worth UGX 25000. The balance was spent on purchasing food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house.
This does not require renovation every now and then like the case is with a grassthatched house.
I am also hopping to take care of the education needs of my child.

I am happiest in the noon time when I am done with my morning duties.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of money.
I have a very small piece of land that can not accommodate all that I would wish to do because I don't have money to buy more.
I do casual labour most of the time in ordere to provide for my family.
Food, treatment and the education needs of my child have to be met but the source of money is not clear.
Some times I have tried to borrow atleat where to plant something but this is very disappointing in a way.
The owners of the land can chose to eat up all the harvest and this does not improve life in any way.
