How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has transformed a lot from abject poverty to a more lively and befitting state. I constructed a nice house and purchased livestock. I did not own these property before. I am grateful that I feel much relieved now. Life was very hard in the past because I had a sickly child who required urgent surgery. Luckily, the cash transfers were sent at the right time.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinon, GiveDirectly does well to send us cash transfers without requesting for anything in return.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second cash transfer to purchase livestock , a radio and windows.

My first transfer was spent to building materials like iron sheets, cement, timber, bricks, nails to construct an iron sheet roofed house, paid a debt, bought household items like mattresses, a bed and clothes, then started small food grocery business selling especially silver fish and vegetables.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
When I receive this money, I will buy Cows that will help in milk production so that our children feed on it to improve their diet. I will also use part of it to pay medical bills for our daughter who was diagnosed with a spinal complication. And the remaining money shall be paid in school to cater for the dues and requirements of our children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening because its the time we are gathered together as a family to share some light moments. This is usually the time our children come back from school and we are also done with the day's work.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is lack of money to pay for good medical facilities to treat our daughter who was diagnosed with spinal complications.
