How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different after invest my transfers in farming. I opted for scaling up my farming so that I would have more income and raise money to support my family's need with no much struggles. Now the crops are doing so well, from harvests of vegetables and tomatoes. I do earn good income out of selling to my neighbors and the nearby markets which has come in handy interms of paying school fees for my children , rent and food. Looking back, I did casual jobs for a living but it was challenging to start investing in farming because my income was meager. I appreciate GiveDirectly for giving me an opportunity of improving my living standards and pursuing my passion too.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion , GiveDirectly did well through issuing its donations in form of money to the members of my community . I believe the way these money was in lumpsum made the recipients decide on projects that would have taken them century to accomplish. The idea of working as an independent organisation brought out transparency as well .
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent a larger part of my second transfer on buying insecticides ,fertilizes and hiring an ox plough that facilitated the cultivation on time . Today, I am a happy and productive farmer since the vegetables and tomatoes which I planted are doing very well. Therefore, I get better profits out of selling my produce to my neighbor and other nearby markets. This has enable me to provide for my family with ease. I also invested on the sugarcane business where I served as a broker of selling sugarcane from farmers to the nearby factory .

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving money from GiveDirectly is that I feel so relieved having harvested my crops, and they are safe with me at home.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment when I received my money I felt so happy and relieved because at that time I was so worried on how to raise money for weeding and for harvesting so that my crops couldn't be stolen from the farm.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I love farming and I do practice it a lot. When the money was sent I had a lot of pending work on my farm, yet I did not have money so most of the money I spent on both weeding the sugarcane plantation and on harvesting maize. A smaller portion of the money I used to buy both a bed and mattress because the previous ones were worn out.
