How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The biggest difference since I started receiving these transfers is that I have new household items such as a mattress, tv and seats. Before the transfers, in my house, we used to sit on jerricans because I could not manage to buy seats with my own income. It was little and I only had one mattress for the whole family. My children were sleeping on a mat because I was not even able to buy them a mattress. We would have to go to my neighbour's house to watch new because I could not even afford a radio. GD transfers have brought a lot of changes in my life. Right now I no longer sit on jerricans because I have my own seats, I watch my own television and mat is history in my house because of GD transfers.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life?
In the next months, my main goal is to start a business. So far I have not decided on the kind of business I would want to invest in but I know for sure, I am ready to start a business. I have suffered enough because I do not have a good income and now that my children have joined secondary school, their fees have gone up. I would want to keep up with the demands of the family by getting a good source of income.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my transfer on buying food for my family for the festive season. Having gone to pay my parents a visit back at home for the holidays, I would not have gone without a gift and being the festive season, nothing would please them more than food. The rest of the transfers I saved to help me in pay school fees for my children. I knew when they report back to school for the new year, they would not be allowed back in school without paying even part of their fees. This is why I saved so that I may not be embarrassed that we had a good time for the festive but could not pay fees arrears for my children.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I honestly want to thank GD for the transfers because there is a lot of changes in my life. The biggest difference I can single out is that I have new household items which I did not have before the transfers. I did not have a bed for my children and the used to sleep on a mat. During the rainy seasons, they would be affected with cold and had to spend a lot on treating pneumonia and I did not like it because I was exposing my children's lives to such risk. Right now, they have their own bed and they no longer fall sick as before. I also don't have little quarrels with my neighbours because of my children watching television in the neighbour's house. This is because I used part of my transfers to buy a television. I no longer go watching the news at my neighbour's house.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life?
My new goal is to start a business for my wife. Currently, my whole family depends on my income and in most cases, I am not able to meet all their needs well and in time. This is why I have decided to start a business for my wife to engage her economically and even improve on our family income so that we can meet our needs in time with ease.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my transfer on paying school fees arrears for my son who is in primary school. He had been sent home and had stayed home for three days as I was still looking for the money. I was not feeling well because his fellows were in school studying while he was at home doing nothing. This is why I chose to first settle the arrears first so that he may get back to school. I also saved part of the transfer just for future use in case of any financial emergency. The rest of the transfer I used on buying food for my family. I did not want to wait until the little we had in store was used up.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Since I started receiving these transfers, my life has really changed because I have been able to buy the most critical items I did not have in my house before such as a bed and even chairs. My little income never allowed me to spend on such exepensive household items as what I earned was only enough to take care of my basic needs.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life?
I sell street food such as kebabs, sausages and fries. Preparation if these foods have always been a bit hectic because I do not have modern equipment such as potato peelers or even a frier. Now that my savings in our table banking group have improved, all thanks to these transfers, I will take a loan to facilitate the purchase of this equipment so that I can be more efficient and spend less time during preparations. This will also save me a lot of money spent on charcoal which has become very expensive due to the bans placed on the commodity in most parts of the country.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I saved part of the money I recently received in our table banking group to boost my savings which are quite less compared to what the rest have. We also agreed as a group that we should be saving most of the money whenever we can for better use when after good savings have been made. I then added some of my own savings to the rest of the money and bought aa three-seater chair.

Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
My goal is to open an hotel. Currently I am selling kebabs and chips by the road side. At times my customers are not comfortable eating by the road side. I will use part of transfers and the savings from my business to open the hotel. The hotel will accommodate all my customers hence more income from the business.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I can now get more income from the business. In the past I used to get little income since the initial capital was small. I used my transfer to boost my business and the income has increased. I no longer struggle to pay school fees for my child since the income from the business is enough to meet all my family needs.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my most recent transfer to buy an umbrella for my business where I sell chips and kebabs. I decided on this because it was very hot and we are also approaching the rainy season. I can therefore do my business comfortably. I also used part of transfer to buy one bag of potatoes to expand my business. In the past I could only afford half a bag of potatoes hence got little income from my business. Thank you Give Directly since I can now get more income from the business.
Describe the moment when you started receiving transfers. How did you feel?
I was so happy when I received my transfer. At first I did not believe since I have never seen an organisation that gives out money for free. I knew that I will expand my business since the initial capital was small.
