What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
Receiving this money will be a means to earning cash through agricultural activity. We intent to spend approximately KES 50000 of the cash to grow animal feeds for sale. I have been having this dream because none of our neighbors has grown it yet it is a lucrative activity. Animal feed in our region is hard to get unless you go to the nearby town which is 20 kilometers away. If you are lucky enough to get it, it is extremely expensive.
What is the happiest part of your day?
We depend on goat rearing as an income earning activity. We usually sell them to meet our domestic and education for our school going children. In the last 4 days we got an additional kid from our goat which gave us hopes for future. We are happy that our expenses will be catered for because we will be to sell it for an income when it is fully grown.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
We are currently facing a prolonged period of drought in our region. This has affected our lives negatively owing to the fact that we are unable to plant any crop in our farms. Our main source of water is the lake which is also far and we cannot do any meaningful agricultural activity through irrigation.
