What does receiving this money mean to you?
The cash gift will meant having a new house. I have been living as a second wife from 3years ago. Before I got married to a polygamist, I was married before but we divorced. In total I have 4 children from 3 men. At the moment we are 6 living in my house includes myself and my husband. I cook and sale Mandasi for a living. On daily basis I make about K5000 ($4.55). The money is then used for household expenditures such as paying for school fund, food and buying clothes. My husband is the one who provided the business capital and he does his part in the house. I want to build a new house because I am tired of living in a grass thatched house. The challenge is I have to find grass and palstic paper yearly before rain season to protect my house, clothes and food. At the moment finding good grass is a challenge as it is on great demand. Due to that, the cash gift will be used to buy iron sheet and to build agood and modern house.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am always happy in the afternoons because that's the time I almost does my business.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Poverty is the biggest hardship I have faced in my entire life. Finding food, clothes and basic needs its not easy and it's very challenging besides doing business. There days it passes without selling and that reduces the quality of the Mandasi.
