How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The transfers have made my life different in that feeding has improved a lot because food is readily available at home, and we dress better than before. Before, I had to labour in someone's garden to get money which would enable my family to have a meal, otherwise, we go hungry that day unless someone sympathized to give food.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well to give money directly that has enabled people to acquire livestock, permanent houses, motorcycles, household items, cultivation land. This has uplifting people's livelihood in the village. I don't see anything it hasn't done well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
My second transfer was spent to pay a debt and to hire cultivation land. I bought household items like clothes, utensils, mattress, and food as well.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life so far is that all my family members are happy. This is because the cash transfers have enabled us purchase saucepans and bedding, we can afford to have decent food. Previously we had old dusty mattresses that were very ashaming and we could hardly afford three meals.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was woken up by my buzzing phone at midnight. When I checked the phone, I was amazed to see a mobile money informing me that I received UGX 1728300 and it was sent by GiveDirectly. That moment I became very happy and chanted songs of joy because I was really desperate for a miracle so as to fulfill my family obligations.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first cash transfer on purchasing two pairs of bedsheets worth UGX 40000, a mattress worth UGX 120000, and a wooden bed worth UGX 100000. I spent UGX 72000 on purchasing saucepans and utensils. The remaining cash transfer I am planning to spend it on clearing my dowry and hiring a piece of farm land.
