How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Hh
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has come to rescue the needy in the community. We have gotten what we wouldn't have if it was for GiveDirectly. In my opinion, I love the unconditionality since I wouldn't have support my husband using GD's transfer.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I received my transfer when husband wasn't feeling well. We used to frequently visit hospitals for medication and check ups. When I received my second transfer I spent larger amount on my husband's medication. Even though he succumbed to death, I am greatful that GiveDirectly stood with us at the hardest time. I spent the remaining amount on my household daily basic needs now it was hard for me to go for casual Jobs.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is that now we have enough food which we bought with the money which we got from GD. Before we would spend a night without food or skip a meal as I had no money. I spent all which I had on medication since my husband has been unwell. Now we can eat three meals a day and am happy to see my children improving.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the transfer from Give Directly, I felt so happy as I knew that the money will help me to met my needs.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent part of the money which I received as my first transfer from Give Directly to buy maize for consumption and other food. A small portion I spent to buy clothes for my children. The rest, I spent to buy building materials for plastering my house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
This money is of great help to me and my family. Receiving the transfer means that my two kids who are in secondary school will complete their studies. On clearing their school fees, the children will have ample time to study and propably attain good results. Of late, the kids have been regularly absent from school due to pending fee arears. Thanks be to God and GD.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is at the morning when sharing breakfast with my happy family. This gives me hope and happiness for the rest of the day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Since 2015, my husband has been ill. Accordingly, we have sold much of our property to raise funds for settling hospital bills. We have visited varied hospitals and healthcenters including Chelima, Kisyaroni and Sigor. More over, life has become more challenging because I am currently the primary breadwinner for my family - it is indeed overwhelming to seek school fees, medication funds and household needs without the support of my ailing husband.
