How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before receiving payment from GiveDirectly, I am a farmer, always planting cassava and other crops as our livelihood. Notwithstanding, I always had the dream of building a new house to create more and comfortable space for my family. But because of lack of good income my planned was always fruitless. Since I started receiving payments from GiveDirectly, I have been buying building materials such as zinc, roofing nail, cement and others. Now with my recent transfer, I used all the money and paid the contractors. For this reason, I have not developed any new goal but to continue my house project. I feel very happy knowing that few weeks from now the condition of my family will change for the better.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly has been doing very well from the start of this program until now. All the works done by this unique Organization has been fair and transparent. The efforts and sacrifices applied in reaching out to us is rewarding. Truly speaking, GiveDirectly has not done anything wrong. My thanks and appreciation to GiveDirectly for their humanitarian heart that have changed our lives.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
With my dream and hope of building a new and bigger house for my family, I used all my recent transfer and paid the contractors. For the passed years I have struggled to raised money to built a new and bigger house but to no avail. I am very excited and hopeful that with the level of progress made so far with my project, my goal of building a new house will soon be accomplished. Thanks to GiveDirectly for this life changing opportunity.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I was having the plan of building my own house. I lived with my father and mother but I am grown up so I need to be on my own. When I receive my first transfer from GiveDirectly, I used portion of it to buy one bundle of zinc with 10 sheets to build a 2 bed rooms house. I am going to use the second transfer to erect my house and pay the workers that will be building the house for me. I want to be under my own roof in the future with my family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
If GiveDirectly had no concern about humanity, they wouldn't have come to help and take us out of poverty. In my opinion about what is not done well by GiveDirectly because during the enrolment process all deserving households in our town were fairly enrolled. There is nothing that is not done well by GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have not used my second transfer yet but if received, I will pay the builder that is going to be undertaking my house project and buy food for those that will be working on the house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
When we get this money, we plan to build our house and send our children to school.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I'm happy because I see GiveDirectly people. I know they care for us.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The hard time i'm facing right now is money business. I have to cut palm, sell it before i can get money to buy food for my family; if i don't have strength to go cut palm one day, then I will have to credit money to buy food for my family. So when GiveDirectly give me this money, at least I will be able to help myself.
