The new goal set before receiving this is transfer to saw planks for my new house I am planning to build . I used my previous transfers to buy three bundles of decent silver color zincs . I want to build three bed rooms house with concrete cements. My current house thacth is badly leaking. Thanks to Givedirectly for the cash support. It is through Givedirectly cash supports that I will no longer sleep in old house in this village.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Givedirectly offered freed cash to everyone in this village. Through Givedirectly cash support, many recipients who couldnot afford money to build zinc houses are now building zincs houses. What does receiving this money mean to you?
"Over three years my family and I have been sleeping in a leakage house because we have not been able to roof the building due to financial constrains. About two years ago, I have a contract to saw woods in one of the districts in Rivercess county with the intend of using the money to renovate my house. At the end of the project the owner of the power saw refused to pay me for the job that I did. This got me so frustrated and return home with nothing. As a result of this, the leakage on my house has become worse. Any money I receive from Give Directly will be used purposely to build my house and part of it will be used to establish a mini business for my wife."
What is the happiest part of your day?
"In Decemember I got so frustrated when I heard the news of Give Directly staff leaving Rivercess county. I got frustrated because the withdrawal of Give Directly would have served as a major blow to us as poor people During one of my visits in a neighbouring Village, I again heard from one of the leaders of the county that Give Directly is about to return to Rivercess for the continuation of the enrollment process. This news brought so much joy and excitement to me because I have seen the impact of Give Directly in other communities around me. Therefore, I consider the news of Give Directly returning to my county as the greatest and most exciting news for me over the past six months"
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"The lack of a permanent source of income is the greatest challenge I am currently facing. A permanent source of income is a major challenge because I am a farmer and the income generated from farming is so small to take care of my family. Some times the land becomes so unproductive that I have to engage into palm harvesting just to sustain the family but it doesn't help".
