How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I do not have any new goals for now. The only goal I have is to complete my house and move in with my family. At the time GiveDirectly has not come to with this opportunity in my town, I had planned to build a four bedrooms house. However, that plan was far from implementing as farming is the only source of livelihood for us. I am happy and greatful that GiveDirectly came with this money that has helped me to build the house that I have long wished to have.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, since GiveDirectly start work in my community, nothing bad the organization has done. As for what GiveDirectly does well, I can clearly say that when the organization entered into this community, every house in this town was visited to determine eligible households. By doing this, no household that deserves to be enroll was left out except where the household refuses not to be part of the program.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I received the first transfer, I planned with my wife for us to use part of it to pay our children's school fees and the balance that left I bought two bundles of zinc. As the remaining transfers were coming in, we decided that we should buy other building materials such as nails, cement, planks, and additional three bundles of zinc. I was able to pay the contractors who came to build my house from the recent transfer. I bought also food for the home.

In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by visiting every house in the community to determine eligible households to be enrolled into the program. GiveDirectly also does well by come to find out from the recipients to ascertain if the recipients have any problem after recieving the transfers so that it can be resolved. As for what GiveDirectly is not doing well I have not seen anything yet from the day GiveDirectly entered into this community.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my first transfer to buy zinc and nails for the new house I am building. When I received my most recent transfer I used it to buy four gallons of gas and rice. The gas will be used in the power saw to produce planks for my house construction.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was in my village when my biggest sister came with the news that givedirectly has sent her cash transfer. I quickly run to the network area to check my account. Out of disbelief towards my sister, because my sister always try to trick me, I needed to be sure. When I got to the network area and checked, I saw the money in my account. I was very much happy and started rejoicing with my husband in the town. I was happy because I have not received such money like that in my life and for free. Me my wife and our 6 children currently live in a combine family house. The house is so small. The children and I sleep in the same room. This situation has caused so many embarrassments for me and my wife. But all of that now looks over. With my transfer, I hope of building my own house. The worries of paying my children school fees has also been lay to rest.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving payment from GiveDirectly is that my life has changed for the better. I now have enormous respect in my town. The shame was so much for me and my wife living with relatives and In laws. Living in a family house with my sisters, brothers and other family members was a serious problem. There was confusion between my wife, the kids and other people's kids or my wife and her In laws. Happily, we now eat three times a day. Getting food for my children to eat is easy because I now have my own money. lastly I'm able to get my owned house in my village where my children will have their own rooms instead of us sleeping in the same room.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I withdrew my money, I took 24.000 LRD. I bought some Zinc and three parks of zinc nails. I have paid the workers to start building my house immediately. I spend tge balance money to paid my children school fees and buy some colthes for my children. In the past, my wife and I used to Cut Palm for people on the farm just to get money to paid our children school fees. The house I'm living in right now is my family house. The house is very small for everyone. My 6 children and l sleep in the same room. It's really Embracing for us but I am thankful that I was enrolled into this program to inable me build my own house for my family. The building project has started and my children school fees has been paid. This makes me so happy and satisfy.
