Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very happy the moment I received my transfer. I Joy was unspeakable. I have 4 children and getting their school fees was a challenge this school year. I also live 5 hours from the main road. Few years back, I had to walk 5 hours also to get on the road if I had any goods to sell. When I had sold all, I walked the same 5 hours to get home. The condition of my house is also so bad for me and my kids. However, with this transfer, I was able to get my children school fees paid. I also decided to start a new business to sustain my family. I am really excited to be a part of this GiveDirectly cash transfer.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The joy within my family is so unimaginable. My new business brings me so much satisfaction. The stress was so much to bear as a lady. But I now wake up and focus on my business every morning. My children are now happy after I told them I have paid their school fees. I furnished their room and bought their school materials. This brought so much joy to them. When I sit and see my kids with so much satisfaction and joy, I am even more excited. There's enough of food in my house daily since I received the transfer from GiveDirectly. Everyday now seems hopeful and relax. Stress is gone and when GiveDirectly leaves, my business will keep me going from where they will stop. This is the biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving payment from GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Am so happy that I no longer have to walk 5 hours to sell and pay my children school fees with the little I get from selling. As a woman, it was a challenge for me in the past. Our living condition was also unfavorable. Currently, I am able to pay my children school fees, buy some zinc to improve my house and I have also started a new business to sustain my family. I spend around $ 10,000 LRD on my children school fees and school materials which was so important to me. I was also able to spend $ 5,000 LRD to buy my kids some new clothes and improve their room.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Our plan is to do business, becasue through business we can develop the money that can help us send our children to school. And thirdly, we are going to build a house in the city where our family can live happily.
What is the happiest part of your day?
When I heard that there was going to be a bridge constructed at the Timo River which gives us difficulty in getting to the nearest market. And when the news of GiveDirectly coming to my family to help relieve us from hardship through cash grants reached me, I was so happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The current challenge face with by me and my family is lack of finance. Because when you don't have money, it's difficult for you to get your needs.
