What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on settling a debt of a piece of land that I bought with my first transfer and had not paid all the money quoted by the seller. I am planning to build my home as well as to do some subsistence farming on that piece of land. I also used part my transfer to finish building a rental house which was already under construction. They are my investments and God willing they will be my long term source of income. I spent the remaining part of my transfer on starting a small business that would keep me busy especially in the evening while resting after working in the farm. I will also earn a living from it when it starts bringing in profit.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion Give directly has helped us to start development projects which we could not do on our own without assistance. Most livelihoods have been improved through the transfers disbursed by the organization and we are so thankful.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Give directly has helped us so much to move on in life.I would have been so much behind in terms of personal development. I have a piece land that I bought with my transfers, built some rental rooms which I will earn from and start a business that will be able to keep me going. GD helped me achieve my life goals.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent part of the money I received from GiveDirectly on building materials that I used to construct a rental house so that I can have an additional source of income. A portion of the money I spent on starting up a small business and now I have a source of income and I do not have to rely on my spouse for everything.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money I felt so happy because I had always longed for building a rental house but due to a lot of responsibilities I couldn't do it. This came at the right time.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I'm now at peace since I do not have to ask my spouse for money every time. My child too could walk all the way to school because I couldn't afford his transport to school. I'm also engaged the whole day, so I do not have time to think about negative things.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face in life is unreliable source of income. I depend on casual labor services that is unreliable and tedious. This makes it difficult to provide for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon when I make some profit out of the small business and buy food for my family.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means the beginning of a better life in my family . I would like to spend the transfer on paying school fees for my children. I would also like to spend the remaining part to improve on my small business. This will increase my sales and profit therefore enabling me to provide for my family.
