What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am a marketeer, who was into the out of town business , travelling from county to county, buying oil, slippers and other things, I will most often bring goods to my county and sell. But for two years I have stopped selling and due to my husband health conditions. He came down with some sickness which I was told by native doctors that it is african sign. I spend all my business money I had, but he is still not getting well. Now I have been left with nothing. With the cash transfer from Givedirectly, I continue with my business.I will be station at home and open a table market , like rice, argo oil and other thing that are needed in the community. This will help me pay more attention to my sick husband.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My husband health condition is improving gradually, this has brought me so much joy of recent. Before he was very sick and could not walk on his own. But now, he is lifting up his legs and walking little by little. This has brought me happiness and I am so much thankful to.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Right now my husband is very sick and can not walk on his own to help me with the family. Because of this ,things are very difficult on us. I was selling and getting money for the family but since my husband got sick, I stopped selling and started taking care of my husband at home. Now my major challenge has to do with the financial constrain we are faced with. We sometimes beg people in the community for money before getting food to eat. I am not strong enough to make farm, so we highly eat every. This is worrisome to me because we need food to survive, most especially my husband who is very ill.
