How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The only goal I have is to complete my new house and move in with my family. As seeing, my house has been badly leaking especially during the rainy seasons. Most of the times, I have to traveled about four hours distance just to get new thatch to repair the areas that are leaking. I have wished to have a zinc but the lack of finance has been a serious challenge for me as farming is the only source of livelihood for my family. I am happy and greatful that GiveDirectly came and gave me this money which has helped me to build the house that I have long wished to have.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly as an organization working in my community has not done anything wrong. As for what GiveDirectly does well, I can say that when the organization entered into this community, every house in this town was visited to determine eligible households. In this way, no household that deserves to be enrolled was left out except where the household chooses not to be enrolled into the program.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
The first transfer I received my wife and I decided to use part of it to pay our children's school fees and the balance that left I used it to buy two bundles of zinc. As the remaining three transfers were coming in, we decided my wife and I to buy other building materials such as nails, planks, and additional one bundle of zinc. I was able to pay the contractors who I hired to build my house from the last transfer.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have lived in this village since President Tubman administration. Living in a mud house that is cover with thatch is not a easy things. I have to change the thatch after every two years and my age can no longer allow me to do that, so when the rain is falling I'm unable to rest because my roof can be leaking. Receiving this money from GiveDirectly will help me break this house down and built a better one with Zinc on top of it. I will used this money to start a business and save the profits.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I understand that life will never be easy for us as native people, so once I wake up every morning I feel happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Due to my age I'm unable to carry out those activities I used to do when I was young, this has make life very difficult for me in this village. I can't afford food for myself, I'm facing house problem and no money for me to go to the hospital when I get sick.
